• • Homecoming?

    I wasn't supposed to be here for as long as I have been.
    
    This was supposed to be nothing more than a simple reconnaissance mission; one to cover the important person for a little while. How things could possibly be so blown out of proportion in such a fashion as to fuck things up like this... I'll never know. What's even worse? Humans have continued to prove how worthless, heartless, and vain they can be; far more than I could ever hope to achieve, and that's saying something.
    
    I keep trying for the life of me to befriend one such... Niel; but apparently, a simple, nice gesture is more than adequate enough "proof" that something is absolutely wrong and now, because of his initial mistake, shit has hit the fan and I'm not sure anything can even be remotely salvaged at this point. I'm not one to concede defeat in the face of adversity, and this is no different a scenario than if it were back home.
    
    Admittedly, this part is probably what stings the most. Like if it hits absolute rock bottom, that's how its meant to stay. Genuinely, I was trying to see if it were possible to make friends with one, Niel seemed to be a likely choice given his drive back at the photo shoot, picking the slack up from someone else; honestly, that's the kind of attitude I'd have join my command. Then again...
    
    How is it that anyone can possibly live life like that? Going around, questioning absolutely every little detail like their food was potentially poisoned? I've seen first-hand what I can do when someone manages to piss me off enough; and Niel certainly had no problem achieving said state without much effort or loss of time. I haven't even had a chance to apologize for that, let alone everything else that will come as soon as I feel he's genuine about his apology; I had control of his rosary at that point, so for all I know it could have just been an absolute front to get it back. I'm giving myself one last-ditch attempt to right some of these wrongs, if not all of them, before I hope to leave this place for good. I intend to make things better, even if it means spilling some well-kept secrets. I would love to tell him absolutely everything, but Vaele would certainly have my head on the chopping block if he ever found out. He'd probably even consider it grounds for exile, and that's what I fear the most... but I absolutely need to tell Niel something.
    
    Agony abounds if even he finds these pages, he can't really know how I feel. What I want to feel. Twice now he's touched me, touched my skin; I've seen what happens as it reflects in his eyes, and it sickens me. It sickens me that I have absolutely no control over it, that I can't make it happen or not happen, depending on the circumstances. He cannot find out what it does to me in return.

    From another perspective, I have been seeing... things. In my dreams, in my nightmares. Experiencing things that don't fit my code, or my upbringing. Every morning, I wake up to find myself drenched in a cold sweat with a thick layer of cloudfrost hovering over my bed before vanishing the moment after that first blink; I'm convinced its not my imagination, given the frequency with which it happens. I can feel it when I move, like my veins are clogged with liquid ice for a few minutes; I feel the mass expanses of goosebumps racing along my limbs, and up my back. What concerns me most about this is it makes me feel more at home than anything else does.
    
    Am I being hunted? Am I being spied upon, or... watched over, perhaps? I know the Equinox is almost upon us; one month until the Winter Court comes to power. Vaele may not seem deterred by the Winter Prince's upcoming rule, but I sure as hell am. I have never once beheld his presence, but if he's trying to push his limits, he'd best have his army ready to assert dominance before his appointed period. I made my vows, I swore my oath.
