Arcanian Jackal

• Hierarchy
  
  The Arcanian Jackals(Referred to as such simply since the common language would not allow the proper pronounciation. Verbally or literally.) are divided into multiple clans. Each residing on a floating island of stone and metal hiding within magically generated clouds and constantly mobile. Every clan has it's main function at which it excels, forcing different clans to meet in exchange of resources and inventions. Whilst some study medicine, others produce weaponry or gather magical energy. The Arcanian Jackals have an affinity for blood magic so over the centuries have developed ways of finding both nurishment and fuel by gathering said magical energies. The process was long and fairly different so sacrifices had to be made to further one branch of knowledge. The clans didn't keep much in contact with each other unless in need of trading. Of course some clans disappeared over the course of time due to suddenly running out of energy and crashing into the earth or just falling under attack by various enemies. Though lost clans were soon enough remade as every piece of the puzzle was required to keep everything operational. Trading and such is only done with those of own kind as lifestyle within the clouds ensured secrecy in most cases.
  
  Abilities
  

  • Bloodmagic: Whilst some did not come in contact with it, all are naturally bound to it and have a weakness towards it. Though only those who have an amplifying bloodstone embedded can freely learn it.
    
  • Affinity to magic: The ability to sense magical properties and creatures.
    
  • Flight: All are born with wings which is required in their living conditions
    
  • Regeneration: In between the ages of 18 and 30, the Arcanian Jackal's develop a physical save point that the state of body is reverted to at the sight of a full moon. It is used to prolong life indefinitely as otherwise the lifespan would not reach past 50. Illnesses and wounds can also be healed by the process although depending on the severity of the case, considerable amount of sight is lost. Even though it regenerates over time to it's original state, eyes are always kept well protected as it ensures their existence.
    Exception: Wounds or modifications that are desired, remain untouched and heal/progress at their normal rate.
    
  • Hearing: Sizable ears and the ability to process new information grant very good hearing.

  
  Weaknesses
  

  • Albinism: The same magical ritual that granted their species the ability to regenerate, genetically mutated all at an early age of their civilization. Binding them to the darkness of the night. The sun is deadly to their sensitive skin. Little exposure to it can lead to painful burns upon skin whilst staying out under it for more than an hour is almost always fatal as the skin burns up and cracks, leading to fatal bloodloss within moments. Even should one survive, the mental damage from the amount of physical suffering usually leaves the unfortunate incapable of proceeding with their tasks and are mostly put out of their misery due to taking up unnecessary resources.
    
  • Weak bone structure: Whilst musculature develops surprisingly well, bones are fairly weak as most are thin and hollow to decrease weight and allow for high speed and easy maneuverability during flight. Even so they are fairly pliant so would not shatter unless put under very heavy stress.
    
  • Ears and wings: Most sensitive locations that can either bring great pleasure or excruciating pain depending on how treated.

  
  Death
  
  Whilst they can live forever they are still easily wounded like any other mortal. Whilst they can regenerate from wounds during a full moon, they may not always survive until that time depending on the physical damage received. And whilst eyes regenerate, if they are removed or rendered completely blind, no regeneration will occur as for it to happen it is required to actually see the moon. So at least one functional eye is required to regenerate.
  
  Reproduction
  
  Males and females are never together as a clan consists of only one gender. On a full moon some clans may gather for reproductive purposes and the newborn is given to either the male or female clan depending on the child's gender. Such standings of course mean that having partners of the same gender is highly possible and never frowned upon.
  
  Combat
  
  Whilst not the strongest physically, agility is usually used to advantage. Fairly fast and flexible with the ability to adapt to most situations if prepared properly and trained well. May also use blood magic as an offensive weapon though otherwise prefer ranged fights to avoid close combat. Arcanian jackals can make good assassins and infiltrators though if caught off guard they fall fairly easily up close generally due to frail body and unable to sustain a lot of damage.
  
  
  Facts
  

  • They are known to love warmth of any kind even though more used to colder weather.
    
  • Prone to occasional childish behavior when dealing with. Seen mainly in playful moods.
    
  • Whilst fur is short, like common for most jackals, it is incredibly soft and keeps the body warm even under harsh temperatures. Mainly because the fur has two layers, the regular one and a shorter layer closer to the body which makes sure the jackal doesn't freeze during flight in higher altitudes and colder weather.
    
  • Upon full moon, the jackal's fur is almost glowing white as it absorbs the light of the moon for regenerative purposes.
    
  • Whilst the full moon can regenerate the jackal physically, heal wounds and cure diseases. There are a few more pure ones that would override the bizarre genetic code, robbing of the current abilities and replacing with others.[Ex. Human being bitten by a zombie turns into one due to a disease that overwrites the host.] The only time one is truly immune to every possible disease and damage that would not kill him in a split-second is during the actual regeneration process.
