-ConstraintsMinthe was a naiad born of the river god Cocytus, whose domain cut through the underworld. It was there she became acquainted with the god Hades. From sharing beds their relationship blossomed into more, with her heart tangled in his. Their bliss was not to last, however, and upon revelation that he’d bed the noble queen Persephone, Minthe launches a verbal assault. She insulted the goddess, proclaiming the golden haired nymph to be superior to the goddess in a fit of jealous rage, and concluded this barrage with the projection that Hades would return to her arms. This angered the goddess Kore so greatly that she trampled the nymph and from her battered body sprung a patch of mint.
He chose to recreate Minthe’s vessel and give her a second blush at life. He chose that she’d be a nymph once more, but to protect her identity from his goddess wife Persephone, he’d ensure she live far away without memory or knowledge of her past. Cast away from Greece, she’d be born into a modest home with a kindly family, and they too were threatened with eternal damnation should they change her name or treat her with anything but kindness.
The small family lived in relative bliss. The couple, unable to conceive their own children, were ecstatic with Hades' blessing, and though they were cobblers that lived hand to mouth, they wanted for nothing. Minthe was a relatively obedient child up until the moment she discovered her powers. From then on, she ran amok, the girl a tiny terror. This reign of terror went on to last well into her teens, and soon her pranks and foolishness created a foul backlash. She'd messed with the wrong person, at some point- perhaps humiliated them in some way and she paid with her freedom. While walking home one evening, she was plucked from the streets and shipped to Guildereim, sold into their flesh trade. There ensued a learning curve so great it threatened to extinguish her- she raged against the chains that bound her, swore her freedom would be restored. She was violent, and that violence was met with greater violence that extinguished her fighting spirit. Years were spent there, moving from master to master, her positions ever changing- bed warmer, maid, a piss poor pit fighter. She'd come to accept her new lot in life with the hope and prayer that she'd be eventually freed from her bondage.
That savior came in the form of an abolitionist, and the woman set her up with her papers, enough money to start a farm, and travel far, far away from that tropical isle. Minthe naturally returned home, but her parents in their old age had since passed. In her grief, she left to roam- drinking and fucking her way through her despair until she happened upon the perfect piece of property on Guildereim, ripe for agricultural pursuits. The blonde spends her days with her cat, Ophelia in a small cottage in the middle of her modest farm. She lives on the outskirts of the island, with the tropical forest surrounding much of her property. Isolated by her own choice, she's often warm to company that may find her, yearning for human connection.

Minthe was high strung, overactive, impulsive, prone to allowing her emotions rule her despite being full of the best intentions. Time has tempered these, but she's not rid of them- they're simply less prominent in her adult life. Often initially a little quiet with strangers, she tends to keep to herself. When familiar, she will usually display maternal warmth toward friends. She's got a potty mouth she's trying to clean up, and can be a little brazen or brash. Her manners are rough around the edges, it's pretty clear she's unrefined but ultimately well intentioned. After her many experiences, the nymph is slightly jaded, but retains a near maternal warmth. She prefers to challenge authority and others rather than roll over for them. Submission, in her mind, is defeat. She’s known for fervid displays of emotion and her outspoken nature, seeking justice and righteousness, eager to speak up for the down trodden and the meek. She’s prone to mental health issues like anxiety and depression.
