  Isond was born in a small Viking village at the edge of a great lake surrounded by mountains. She did not know who her father was, and neither did her mother, Opnask. By the time she was born her mother already had a four year old son, Hjort. Hjort's father had been a man of some prominence in the village; however, no one believed that he would have taken up with the likes of Opnask. And the father would not claim Hjort. Isond and Hjort spent their whole lives overcoming being called whore brats. They did so by becoming warriors. The children around them would play, while they would bribe the old drunk of the village, once a great warrior, to train them. They grew up far too fast. Hjort killed a man when he was only twelve, and Isond when she was eleven. Their mother did not seem to care, and they did not bother to explore her feelings on the matter
  
  When she died, the funeral was modest. Isond wept, mostly for what had might have been. She saw how the other women and their daughters interacted, and it hurt her heart that she could not have that. Hjort did not shed a tear, he had loved his mother and he was beyond tears at her passing. The siblings lived in a small hut just at the roots of a great mountain. They kept to themselves for the most part, which led to some rather unsettling rumors. None of which were true, after all, they were not Lannisters.
