The world Velari comes from is pretty typical, in that standard magic is performed with Mana, a force produced by the souls of all individuals (though some far more than others). One noteworthy offshoot of this is Elementalism, which fundamentally involves producing Elemental energy of a given type from Mana, though they also occur in the natural world; from there, it's manipulated by force of will and intellect. There are ten types of Elemental energy; Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Light, Shadow, Nature, Metal, Aether, and Frost... they combine in myriad ways to compose all creation. The chart below names all the secondary combinations, but I haven't quite assigned them all yet. It's uncommon for an Elementalist to develop real skill with more than two Elements, and quite rare for one to do so with more than four; those with enough skill (not uncommon among the set of all Elementalists) with an Element can absorb its energy and convert it back into Mana. Velari's soul does not produce Mana, instead directly generating enormous quantities of all ten Elemental energies. (Think Mega Man's loadout instead of a single MP bar.)
There's also Void... It's essentially "nothingness", "unreality", "nonexistence" and "annihilation". Extremely difficult to manipulate, swallowing up and destroying anything a sample of it comes in contact with. A lot like the number "zero", because multiplying anything by Void results in Void, and the last time someone tried to divide by it... well, you get the idea. Deprecated. Several of these Elements and combinations are material in nature; while the size limit of what he can create is very large, he's heavily restricted by its shape. Starting from spheres and the Platonic Solids, he can only make a limited number of modifications. Certain other shapes come easily enough (cones, cylinders, tori), but generally speaking, it needs to have few variables or be easily described by formulae. Trickier shapes are also possible, with regular faces being less of a challenge than identical but irregular faces. This also holds true for any energy fields he may create. Also has to focus to keep them from being mathematically perfect (thus having edges sharp enough to make handling problematic).

He can psychokinetically lift, throw, and otherwise manipulate matter, but it requires precise knowledge of its composition. Generally speaking this translates to at least 90% accuracy. So, no lifting other characters (since organic composition is far too complex for him to catalogue). Energy is much easier as it's almost always straightforward in composition.
