  • Significant Life Events

    I feel that this is necessary only because Maggie doesn't have a background and she won't. She was born and raised a fairly normal human girl with a basic life. ALL of the things listed here are significant life events that have taken place is Maggie's life. None of these things are known in an OOC capacity but obviously can be learned ICly

    *Maggie has left behind her life in San Angeles after a rough year and a half

    After numerous assaults, the city becoming unsafe, her spiral into depression, Maggie's isolation became bigger and bigger
    -The voices were her only friends and she embraced them.
    -She should have been fighting them, because what disguised itself as a voice, was actually a very old demon
    -This thing had been tracking Maggie since her trip to Mexico. It created a profile on her
    -It has now Possessed her and indulges greatly in more than just a few vices
    -In order to feel like she is keeping her family safe, Maggie has ventured out on her own in a whole new city

    *Maggie was born with an empathic ability to feel and sense people's feelings/auras.

    This means she very often identifies people by how they feel.
    -If a feeling is strong enough to overwhelm her, she can actually see a person's memory attached to that feeling
    -Touch Amplifies this ability as does prayer or Maggie's own attachment to her Faith.
    -Maggie VERY often keeps herself walled up or closed off in order to prevent herself from being a complete wreck.
    -She has had Zero training of this ability. Everything she knows, she's taught herself.
    -Almost No One knows she is an empath and keeps this as a closely guarded secret.

    Both her father and her mother were born in Mexico. Her father's family was brought over by her great grandfather who was an illegal immigrant. Her father applied for citizenship in order to go to college to become an engineer. Her mother was born in Mexico and remained there until her marriage to Rodrigo who was an American Citizen and going to college. Her mother applied for her citizenship separate from her husband. All of their children have been born in the US.
    -Maggie is the only one of her siblings not born in San Angeles.
    -As a First Generation American, she feels a great deal of responsibility to live up to "The American Dream"
    -Maggie feels a great deal of pressure to also maintain her Mexican roots and her connection to such.

    *Maggie is considered a "Speaker for the Dead"

    When Maggie was 10, she and her father were involved in a very serious accident on the highway.
    -Maggie herself was crushed and it took emergency crews a long time to get her out of the car
    -When they did, Maggie was cold, and not breathing. Immediately they began CPR and had flown in a helicopter to take her to the hospital.
    -Only after a great deal to save her life on the way to the hospital, were they able to bring Maggie back from the dead
    -Upon her return to the living, Maggie started to notice people that were very obviously dead, and they were drawn to her
    -This created Maggie's fear of the dark that lasted through High School, when she learned better control.
    -Maggie still fears sometimes, hearing the souls of the dead, but recognizes they can be helpful at times too.

    *Maggie's Father is an avid supporter of the SAPD and has been for years.

    Rodrigo has instilled in his children a sense of right and wrong beyond the moral teachings of their heavy Catholic background.
    -Very often, and at least three times a week, he will rotate between night and day crew and bring the SAPD doughnuts and boxes of coffee.
    -His Children have been drug to many a community event put on by SAPD in order to help foster community support for the Force.
    -During Holidays, Rodrigo will bring homemade baked goods, and has even once brought and entire Thanksgiving dinner.
    -While Maggie didn't understand her father's fanatical love and support for the police, she is beginning to understand that Local Police are the men and women that need more support because they fight the 'war' at home.

    *Maggie's eldest brother and her youngest brother are both enlisted Military

    Both brothers are Marines and have done active combat duties.
    -They both have taught Maggie how to fight, especially after she moved out on her own.
    -Her family is avid supporters of the US Military and Maggie will very often boast about her brothers.
    -Maggie's tattoo has a scriptured pray to the Archangel Michael, Gods warrior Angel, this is a tattoo she got with both of her brothers and for them, as a religious testament to the warriors she believed them to be, and the protection she felt Michael would or could bring to them when they were at war.
    -Pascal and Gilbert both, as a tribute to their sister, got the same tattoo that night at the parlor.
    -When Pascal was deployed, he was involved in a serious fire fight and was wounded, but not so seriously that he had to be discharged.
    -Presently, Maggie's biggest fear is that her younger brother is going to be deployed again.

    *Maggie's Best friend is an unregistered werewolf that she met in college.

    Maggie and Mishka were roommates freshman year and roomed together until Mishka left for Chicago.
    -Mishka is well known by Maggie's family as her friend.
    -Mishka knows about Maggie's Empathic sense, and about her ability to speak to the dead.
    -Mishka left to Chicago, citing that things were about to get crazy in San Angeles and keeps in contact with Maggie through Skype dates and in text messages.

    *Maggie works as the Librarian for UC-SA while she works towards her PhD.

    Maggie's original Masters is in Library Science.
    -It was only after she was offered the job that she decided that she was going to double her Masters with History, and switch her focus to PhD in History.
    -Maggie has had to re-write her entire dissertation and research to go along with her History Masters program.
    -Maggie has spent the better part of her last two years solely focused upon her Masters and her PhD.
    -Maggie very nearly became an insomniac while pouring through research to support her dissertation and to overcome objections in her Master's studies.
    -Maggie very much uses her schooling and her job as an excuse not to have relationships with people, any people.
