At a quick glance...

Appearance:

In terms of physical appearance (as well as for many other things), Frater is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma, hidden behind a strangely carved silvery mask and shrouded in a heavy white and grey cloak.
Concealed behind his mask emblazoned with the Imperial Dragon and under under the hood of his cloak, Frater’s grey-blue eyes are his only visible features.

His tall (1.90 meter) and martial silhouette is often spotted in the market or Temple area, his long white cloak floating behind him as he fights against criminal with his preferred method - hitting their heads against the nearest available wall (Frater decided to restrain the use of his two favourite weapons – a long Dunmer blue glass saber and a Daedric mace – after that the judges of the Imperial Court of Justice frowned slightly when he dirtied all the precious carpets with what was left of the criminal he had brought here), before dragging their motionless body to jail, the court or directly into Rumare Lake.

No one has ever seen his actual face – supposing he has any – nor actually seen him wearing anything else than his amour, cloak and mask, making people believing he never leaves his outfit, even to sleep.
Those rumors are nevertheless contradicted by the fact Frater respects a very scrupulous hygiene, as hinted by his slight sent of “Lord Réal – special soft skins” aftershave, his perfectly shining armour and his cloak which mysteriously remains immaculate no matter how many criminals he has squashed during the day.

Personality :

So far, nobody has managed to work out why Frater Sinister is called that way. Probably because no one dared to ask him, or, more likely, no one is actually willing to hear the answer…

What is sure in the end is that Frater Sinister is definitely not very fraternal, but definitely sinister.
And yet, he can’t be considered as evil. Determined, yes, who will do anything to achieve the goal set, yes, but he will never be cruel or evil for the simple pleasure of it.
He is a very ethical being – the only issue may be that his ethics can sometimes differ from other – and normal – people’s.

Describing Frater as “friendly” would be going a bit too far, but he is not exactly a sociopath either. He has simply decided that most of humanity did not deserve much of his attention, except for a happy few, among which fellow Captain Itius Hayn and his charming and very pregnant wife, who always insisting for Frater to come home for lunch after the office at the Temple.

Later on, during the fantastic mess historians will discreetly call the “Rebirth of the Knights of the Nine”, Frater will have the (dis)pleasure to meet and associate with the fanatic Father Jôme, the rebellious Emusette Masolde, the drunken Prophet and the good doer Symetrius Jouaux, each one of them challenging his misanthropy and limited patience to different degree.

Frater shows a bit more enthusiasm for interacting with animals then with humans, but even in that domain, he can reveal quit picky.
Dogs have his favors and he seems very knowledgeable regarding the different breed of guars in Morrowind.
He has also shown interest in horses – but only from a culinary point of view, and would die rather than accepting climbing on one.
His opinion on cats is a bit more mitigated, mainly the result of a very traumatizing experience involving his very heavy self (95 kilos of muscles plus 25 kilos of armor and weapons), a frail tree with equally frail branch, and a kitten stuck on one of the aforementioned frail branch.
The whole city is still talking about “that captain who had to peel off a kitten of his chest to give it to his poor owner after he landed on the pet because the branch broke”…

Frater’s other daily social interactions involve fellow captains of the Imperial Guards, whom, apart from Itius Hayn, he ignores at best or despises at worst.
In addition, and contrary to his comrades, Frater answers of his actions to Chancellor Ocato directly, bypassing in the process Commander Giovanni Civello of the Imperial Legion, who nurses a terrible hatred of Frater because of that. And because Frater told him he was a sycophantic moron with as much backbone as a slug.

Oh, because this ability to spat the naked truth in people's face is another of Frater's little knack. No one knows if it is because he is unable to, or simply unwilling to, but Frater, no matter what, even if his own life is at stake, will always present people the Reality in its purest form.
In short, never ask him if he thinks you look fat in those new pants - you may really not like the answer.

Despite all his shortcoming, Frater is quite popular among the fair sex, probably because he is kind of your typical “dark and mysterious guy” as well as thanks to his rather embarrassed gallantry – one can see he is making the effort, but does not excel at it.
Nevertheless, his courteousness to women can vanish in the blink of an eye if they get the stupid idea to attack him or to threaten his life.

  Dear Journal,
  
  Yesterday has been eventful, to say the least.
  
  I finally found the time to get in the tavern Jôme seems to be visiting on a regular basis - the "Talking Llama". I am not sure what is a "llama", but there is definitely a lot of talking going on inside this place.
  
  It is full of very colourful characters, which I have decided to associate for a quest (for investigation purposes only).
  I was surprised to realise that Jôme had managed, in that very short period of time, to convince Varda Arvel of Fallenleaff to lend him money, to recruit a badass yet first-name-allergic Breton lady (Em-something Masolde) despite the fact I had told him not to recruit anyone for anything before getting my approval and to positively traumatise the rest of the people there (not that last point should be very surprising actually).
  
  The quest did not start well as I suspect we stupidly killed the person we were supposed to save, and thus amputated our reward from a good third.
  That "Facicicicici" witch or whatever she is called will have to pay for that. Preferably with her blood.
  And I hope Elbero, the Bosmer who hired us, won't be too nquistive about the death of his friend. I would not like having to lie to him - because I can't lie. Ahah.
  
  P.S.: let's hope we won't cross any kitten in our way.

  I finally found out where Jôme is spending his evening - a tavern. Which, I was sure, was not there before...
  I highly doubt they have a proper alcohol license and are up to date with Imperial taxes.
  
  Will check that out later. Bwahaha.
  For the moment, I am too busy with Ocato's silly mission.
  
  P.S.: almost a month without having killed a kitten.

  Well, actually this entry should not be called "Day 2" given more than one day passed since I wrote something, but nevermind.
  I am not in a very creative mood today anyway.
  
  Jôme came back last night excited like scamp on acid (I mean, more excited than usual. Didn't even think it was possible). He refused to tell me what was going on, and he spent the rest of the night polishing his broccolis (don't ask...) and muttering something in his (dark) corner.
  
  He even skipped a debate on the Sinful Nature of Dunmer according to St Alessia (even if I believe St Alessia's apotheosis is much anterior to the apparition of the Dunmer race, but Jôme never gets embarrassed by trivial details such as historical facts).
  
  Worrying.
  
  P.S.: Still no dead kitten. Yay !

  Jôme says writing you( well, that is to say, a journal) may help me to find my way to redemption and shines in the light of the Nine again.
  
  Not sure what he meant by that, not sure that I care either, but I don't feel like contradicting him today. Or else, he is going to start foaming at the mouth again and shaking broccolis around.
