• Description

  Alistair is a strange fellow. He sees all of life as an adventure, sometimes to the point of flat out ignoring crises to gallivant off on a mad whim. While among others, he likes to think that (and act as if) he is proper and distinguished, but usually just comes off as mad. He is also fiercely loyal to his closest friends, of which he has very few. He has a terrible grasp on the concept of “inner peace,” and is always pacing, fiddling twitching, or grinning like an idiot. Except, of course, when he is asleep, which is a lot. Speaks in an… odd manner. Sometimes slowly and lazily, sometimes excited and jittery.
  
  Despite his hyperactive tendencies, he is both extremely stealthy and also quite charismatic and charming, provided one can see past his constant fidgeting and crazed smile. He is an excellent fencer, calling out the names of his moves as he fights. He is also skilled with knives, both fighting and throwing.
  
  Alistair has a difficult time taking things seriously, and is optimistic to a fault. In addition, his mad and quirky personality has been known to cause no small amount of unease among more civilized company.

• Biography

  Alistair and his identical twin brother, Trevor were the sons and sole children of a respected village miller, Gregorio Trey. Their mother having died in childbirth, the only residents of their small home in the woods were the boys, their father, and Tirke, the family cat. Though physically identical, the twin’s personalities were radically different. While Alistair was outgoing and charismatic, Trevor was quiet and preferred the company of Tirke and the other animals to that of other villagers. However, they were very close to each other and were hardly ever apart. Though the family had little compared to most, they lived a relatively good and otherwise normal life.
  
  Years passed, and the boys grew older, and eventually took over the mill for their father. One fateful day, Trevor was in a nearby village to deliver some milled oats, when he happened to catch the eye of a young village lady by the name of Elainor Greyem, a particularly unstable individual. She approached him and attempted to win his affections, progressively becoming more and more forceful. The already socially nervous Trevor panicked and brashly spurned her advances. In a bitter fit of revenge, Elainor sought out the help of a local witch to concoct a potion that would transform Trevor into a beast to match his "boorish personality."
  
  A few weeks later, and unaware of these developments, The brothers traveled into town with another shipment of grain. While his brother was otherwise occupied, Alistair managed to overhear the witch and the diluted lover plotting the final stage of their plan. Fearing for his brother’s life, he confronted the vengeful girl, who mistook him for his twin and doused him with the potion. The magic took effect immediately, just as his brother emerged from behind the shop. Alistair’s form began to change and shrink to that of a small animal. However, because of his noble intentions, the dark sorcery was weakened, and instead of becoming a vile creature like a rat or a toad, he transformed into the animal that he knew best: a small, maroon and indigo cat.
  
  Trevor was devastated, but vowed to find a cure for his brother. He was never successful, but Alistair didn’t mind. To him, it was just another adventure. He magically regained the power of speech (as magic creatures are oft to do) but was unable to return to his fully human form. Trevor continued to grow older and older, his black hair turning to gray. In his later years he married, had three sons of his own, and eventually died of old age. Alistair, on the other hand, did not age at all. He slowly regained even more human characteristics, such as the ability to hold items in his paws and to stand on two legs. Eventually he mastered enough of his now natural magical ability to return to his human form completely, then to return to his cat shape at will. For many years, he acted as the protector of the youngest of his nephews, before helping him come into great fortune and eventually setting out in search of his own adventures, including his trips to other worlds like Wonderland, a place he spent a good deal of time in for several years.
