Paradise Lost

I remember exactly what time it was. 4:34 in the morning and my phone went off. At first I thought Dom was kidding. But then I remembered who I was talking to. And he never really kids around. Not about family.

They say it was a "freak accident". Planes get inspected all the time, right? It's amazing how quickly four lives can get snuffed out within ten minutes. Mia. Jack. Letty. And Emma. Four precious lives that ended abruptly and I couldn't do a damn thing to stop it from happening. The reports said that they were 100 miles away from the airport. That's 100 miles away from being home. They were so close... So very close.

Sometimes I laugh about it, not to sound morbid but... I never thought any of us would die from being in the air. I guess it's my own distorted way of dealing with it.
