A ward of the King, Viorel is arguably not well received by the kingdom. For numerous reasons really. Although the oldest child of the Queen Saintess, what woman would love the child of her kidnapper, a man who violated her body and heart? Moreover, this man was not any man, but also the Demon Lord. That said, a mother's love is beautiful, but it is also delicate, fragile, and withers with age. The illegitimate child of the Demon King would never have the love of his victim. Not entirely. Not with sweet kisses and tender touches, but tearful gazes and a cold touch. Still, Viorel has few surviving memories of his father, but they're obscure, unintelligible, and faded with gaps. He had been too young to remember concrete events. He truly only knew the man from pictures and stories of his terrorizing reign. He knows all about his father, yet he also knows nothing of him. All that Viorel could remember was a deep, unsettling, coldness. And loneliness. As the story goes, Viorel's mother was a holy healer in the Hero King's party when he was just the crown prince. It was during a quest that she was kidnapped by the Demon Lord. For the few years she was kidnapped, she was treated, at best, better than a slave as she was given food, clothes, and shelter - however she was treated like a prize than a person. In that time she was isolated, she had given birth to the Demon Lord's chosen heir, Viorel. By the time she was finally rescued, Viorel was but four years old. A dark haired boy with pointed ears, pale skin, magenta eyes, and a dark tail. Rescued alongside his mother, his memories are hazy but he could remember the looks of confusion at the capital as he rode in with his mother, wrapped in a blanket to hide his features. After all, everyone believed the Saintess would have her child with the crowned prince, so why did she return with this strange child? Fortunately, the crowned prince still adored the Saintess, as in those four years, he worked tirelessly to save her for his love remained strong and true. A beautiful story, really, except that Viorel existed as an ugly reminder of the Demon King's misdeeds. For the Queen Saintess, there was a happily ever after. For Violel, the story of turmoil only just begun. A demon lurking in the wondrous halls of the palace. What madness! Surely, Viorel was scheming to bring back the Demon King and the downfall of the kingdom and all of humanity! ... There was nothing Viorel could do for a better image. Everyone's first impression was "Beware the demon child!" Ultimately, it was his mother who wanted him in the kingdom. No matter how much she loathed the Demond King, without Viorel, the Saintess wouldn't have had anything to do or had company to keep her busy in those four years. She hated his father, yes, but Viorel kept her grounded to the world. Still... As Viorel grew older, his resemblance to the Demon King grew more and more prominent that it was difficult for his mother to look at him. In order to appease his mother's quaking heart, Viorel bared the judgement and whispers of the "perverted demon prince" as he started to dress like a girl and grow his hair long. He'd always be his mother's first child and to see the hurtt in her eyes when she looked at him broke him. It was really with time that Viorel realized that unlike his younger siblings, a bright future did not await Viorel. In time, Viorel would be seen as a threat viable for assassination. How cruel to raise a child with a lifespan that shortens with each year? Was his life born in misery to end in it as well? What love did he know when all he saw was fear, sorrow, and hatred? Why was his very existence an insult to life? Due to this, a contempt for his half-siblings and stepfather began to brew into full resentment. With how everyone treats his as a walking omen, Viorel likes to play into those fears as he developt a snarky attitude. In front of his mother, he's a cherub. In spite of his appearance, Viorel acts demure and soft spoken to his mother, but when she's elsewhere, he's moody, solitary, and mopey. He's not absolutely hostile, but the way people treat him like a plague that could kill with a single look does get to him. Naturally, as a demon, Viorel attracts trouble and danger. From humans, actually. It's for that reason, Viorel's rarely met his siblings. Polite chats were allowed, and he was allowed to eat with them, but anything more was silently discouraged. Additionally, it was because of how disliked Viorel was, it was better that his presence not tarnish his siblings' good standing with the public. It was a harsh truth, but being the black sheep as he was, he could very well jeopardize the reputation and livelihood of his siblings through mere association. No matter what, Viorel was a bad and dangerous influence to have around. Understandable. Supposedly. Next was Viorel's magic. Teaching the Demon King's son magic was a controversial and heated topic among nobles and commoners alike. It seemed like a dangerous and irresponsible thing to do - a combination of creating the next Demon King surely - but the King saw it differently. It was better to teach Viorel how to use magic carefully and with tact than to not. A spawn of the Demon King, Viorel was destined to harbour a great and powerful magic, so for everyone's sake, it was better that Viorel knew how to use it than to accidentally set it off like a bomb. Nevertheless, that was all Viorel had to do. There were no regal obligations he had to attend beyond his studies nor where there suitors to think about, but he was free to do all else. Almost, within good reason. Aside studying magic, Viorel read for fun, collected plants and animal teeth, climbed trees, napped, and did whatever caught his fancy. He was just like other boys - if they wore skirts, were a demon, and had guards that could kill him if they ever felt inclined to. So, pretty normal.
