  Welcome to a world largely based on the Dragonlands Continuity of Furcadia! This is the world that the Harbinger exists it, where the continents she visits are and the oceans she sails reside in - with pending changes and additions as the story evolves, of course.
  
  The main goal is to create an interactive world with lasting history and impact of player-driven events and interactions, one where character actions have consequences and lasting changes to add some meaning and depth to their RP; the Dream aims to get away from static environments where all changes are supposed to happen within the mind of the players and present an environment that changes with interaction from the characters living in it.
  
  The gist of the Dream focuses on setting an environment for dynamic RP and character development through interactive settings and situations; I grew rather tired of attempting to grow a character within the constraints of a Dreams that never change to accommodate the characters within them, that set unrealistic rules to enforce realism for the masses, so if someone gets drunk and smashes all the chairs on the ship? Everyone better enjoy sitting on barrels or something until they get replacements. Got angry and pissed into all of the water barrels? The crew will probably not be happy when they figure out why the water has tasted a bit off for the last week. A bar fight got out of hand and now there is a section of hull missing? Time to start looking for someone who has carpentry skills. There are seriously not enough of those kinds of situations happening anymore!

• Legendary Treasures

  The Dragonlands world is full of artifacts and legends that many spend their entire lives chasing, rumors and myths passed from merchants and pilgrims, stories told to young children by their elders and prophecies passed down from generation to generation and every one of them is out there, waiting to be taken by those who are brave enough to step forward to not only take the legends but become legends themselves! Anyone can and is encouraged to participate in the stories that create and expand upon the legends behind any artifacts listed on here or even add their own.
  

  The Pieces of Eight

  The legend goes that one of the greatest treasures in the world is hidden on an island somewhere across the vast oceans, the only map that shows the location of the island and of the treasure kept there is on the back of a golden medallion split into eight pieces, looking like nothing more than a golden pendants. Even some of those in possession of the pendants do not know the real meaning of what they have but some do and they will come searching for the pendants known as the Pieces of Eight and the treasure they will lead to once assembled together.
  

  The Beginning

  
  There is some truth to the legend as the tale goes back over three hundred years to when the compass was first perfected in Catolia and allowed the first furres to sail west and away from the Olde World to discover the lush lands that lay across the waters. The Age of Seas had begun as travel was made frequent by the settlements on the new continent but the naval proficiency of the Olde World was still lacking, the Great Houses themselves were known to squabble and fight between each other to gain the most territory and power in this newly discovered land. A time for change and opportunity, so it was no surprise that it was around this time that piracy began to flourish and the scene was set for the origins of the Pieces of Eight.
  

  The Golden Age of Piracy (1450th - 1415th Year of the Dragon)

  While the Golden Age of Chivalry gave birth to the Raptor Knights and saw the rise of King Constatine the First of Kasuria, the Golden Age of Piracy arose during the same turbulent times - seeing the change happening in this new land, some less fortunate folk no longer wished to stay in the lands already long claimed by old bloodlines and took to the seas to seek new fortune as well as a new life. It did not take long for the first pirates to strike the poorly defended merchant and transport ships, seeking the prize of catching a ship from one of the Great Houses that sometimes carried funds and valuable supplies to this new land since it was only the richer individuals that could afford the resources to make the journey. None of this was new and piracy had existed before - vessels raiding the coast lines of the Olde World or tales of the more gruesome accounts of piracy that focused on the capture of individuals themselves for the slave trade in the Furrabian markets and so the public view on the attacks that happened on the ships travelling between the two lands, was not one filled with appeal. It was the famous tale of Destiny's Ascention, a grand ship built by House Giovarri meant for transporting gold to their colonies in the new land, fell to the cunning mind of one Morrin Payne, a otter fisherman who had grown tired of taxes upon his home and turned to a life on the open waters, commanding himself a sloop, Little Payne. An experienced sailor that knew his local waters, yet some say it was the work of Dahlsea herself that the tides changed to his favor and leave the big and extravagant vessel immobalized on the shoals and easy to plunder. Word spread quick about a poor fisherman catching a prize of over a thousand gold coins and a jewelry belonging to the prestigious members of House Giovarri, earning Morrin Payne a few things - the admiration of the common folk, the ire and scorn of a Great House and the ironic title of Wolf of the Waters. Some argued that it was his tale of rags-to-riches that inspired the populous while others say it was his benevolent deeds with the newly acquired wealth that spurred others to drop whatever allegiance they had to the owners of the land they lived on and take to the waters but the end result was the same - a new wave of inspired individuals took to the sea and the Golden Age of Piracy began!
  
  The naval forces of the Great Houses were still falling behind as the focus was still on grabbing the rich new land, leaving the waters open for plunder by those with enough will and bravado to take destiny into their own hands - the skull and crossbones was soon a very recognizable mark yet not everyone feared the Jolly Roger when they saw it, some greeted the adventurous sailors with cheers and praise. This was because of the example followed by Morrin Payne, who spent the treasure he obtained not only on himself but on the people of his village and those that followed in his footsteps were often doing similar acts of philanthropy; raiding the rich nobles of the Olde World and bringing it back to the less fortunate. The number of pirates on the oceans grew and so did their influence on the people, generations of sailors turning to pirating and even forming large crews and smaller raiding fleets yet no name managed to rise up to the status of Morrin Payne. It was around this time that pirates began to be noticed by the newly made King Constantine the First of Kasuria and other more malicious powers than those of the mortal realm.

  The Dark Age of Piracy and Rise of the Royal Kasurian Navy (1415th - 1370th Year of the Dragon)

  With the wars for power ending, a single lord rose to claim the seat of power, King Constatine the First with the infamous Raptor Knights, becoming stronger than even the Great Houses of the Olde World. The new land was united under the name Kasuria now and attention turned to stability, governors being knighted into royalty and armies formed to defend the land, which brought about the topic of defense for the waters - the Royal Kasurian Navy was formed. Yet as this new force was growing to defend the waters, there was a growing darkness within the pirates themselves as an unseen force began to guide their hand, the Dark Primes saw another chance to spread their influence in the mortal world. Whispers began to creep into the ears of more adventurous pirates, promises of greater glory and fame, even visions of what they could achieve or the revenge on those that wronged them in the past.
  
  The first signs of major change came along the newly established Kasurian coast almost fifty years after the formation of Kasuria itself, towns burned to the ground, villagers missing or killed. Pirates even began to turn upon one another inspite of the established comradery most of them shared and great ghost ships began to drift across the waters, their sails torn, masts snapped and the crew gruesomely murdered while their holds plundered. One account came from a scholar who witnessed the sacking of Brine, a small coastal town in the Darvin province.
  
  "They came as the last ray of day faded into night, a ship anchored in the waters of the harbor with half a dozen boats filled with people with torches, they were like sailors mixed with monsters from the tales a child; clothing stained with Prime's know what grime and filth, cruel weapons and wild expressions of enjoyment at the devestation that they caused... I cannot possibly describe the unimaginably evil things that happened that night, the screams still haunt my hours of sleep..."
  
  The attacks became increasingly brutal and savage with villages being burned, innocents being hanged for amusement or captured for worse fates. The name of Wolf of the Waters being challenged by the Hanged Man, an individual whose real name was not found in any known documents that but the tale of his infamy was written in books all over the world and most historians, and self-proclaimed pirates, would agree that it was the Hanged Man that heralded what is known as the Dark Age of Piracy.
  
  By the 1415th Year of the Dragon, the Royal Kasurian Navy had begun to focus on the growing problem piracy in the waters between Kasuria and the Olde World, their warships being built for longer voyages that no longer bound them to the coastal waters of either continent and allowed them to scour the ocean for any islands between that were frequently used by the pirates and the usual method of handling pirates was to capture the crew, hold them prisoner and bring them back to stand trial for their crimes since very few pirates ships can the capability of standing up to a Royal Navy vessel with a detachment of Raptor Knights on board and no pirate since Morrin Payne was able to take a vessel of the Royal Navy, most merely fled at the sight of one as they had the speed rather than the strength. The Phoenix was a ship of that caliber, sporting a crew of over one hundred with a veteran group of Raptor Knights stationed on board, tasked with the search and capture of the pirate schooner Night's Descent after her crew raided a village near the Espalian coast and reportedly captured more than two dozen women, carrying them off to an island off the coast with the intention of selling them into the slave trade as the rumors would have it and thus the Phoenix was ordered to find the pirates, retrieve the abducted people and capture the pirates. After sailing off the port city of Terroco, no one heard from her or the crew for a week until a single scarhawk carrying a badly wounded Raptor Knight managed to come back to the mainland. The following are the records of Inquisitor Darious LaSanza, tasked with interviewing the lone Raptor Knight.

  1. "This is the account of Sir Martin Malahim, a Raptor Knight from the warship Phoenix - they had come upon the island on which the schooner Night's Descent had been docked and upon their arrival, the pirates attempted to escape but their cove had been blocked by the Phoenix and the Raptor Knights took to the skies to subdue whatever resistance the pirates had put up while the Marines made for the coast in longboats to secure the captured villagers. The battle, if it can be called one, was over within the hour and a total of thirty two pirates were rounded up and twenty two women and three girls were taken to the Phoenix for the medical officers to treat whatever injuries they may have sustained. The small port on the island was secured as the marines began to round up the prisoners for transport, Sir Martin said that there was a sharp whistling sound from the skies as fireballs streaked through the air and at the Phoenix. It was not simple spell for the explosions were too great, spreading the fire all along the decks and forcing the crew to hastily evacuate the burning ship but what at first seemed like a blessing of Viverravus himself, the storm clouds overhead began to rain to suppress those flames that threatened to eat the ship whole.
  
  
  2. The dozen Raptor Knights were already taking to the skies in order to face this new threat and what they saw was a single ship, larger than a schooner, a galleon at the very least and from the decks of this dark ship came those devices, large poles of some kind with the heads of dragons carved onto the top - that was all Sir Martin could recall of their details because they flew at him and his comrades next with such speed, exploding violently in the air with such destruction that the Raptor Knights did not have a chance to prepare for them. The brave knight mentioned that whoever they were fighting was not merely lucky as they had waited for him and his comrades to be close enough to have no chance of avoiding such a weapon. Within moments, only two of the dozen knights remained, knocked from their steeds and helpless in the water as the dark ship approached and they were pulled from the waters. With a tone of disbelief in his voice, he recalled the crew of that ship - they looked the part of mangy sailors, smelling heavily of salt waters, various species on board the ship with no real manner of distinguishable rank but it was their behaviour them gives him such trouble to understand, he claims they were nice to him, even welcomed him on board the Drowned Lady as they called the ship. He saw the captain himself, a man of simple detail yet one I fear will stay in history for far longer than I - a rodent of grey fur dirty with sea salt and uniform of old Royal Kasurian officer, torn and tarnished with age, no doubt taken from a victim or even a grave of a proper man and with a noose of rope hanging from his neck.
  
  
  3. None of the crew said his name, all of them merely referred to him as the captain. With those strange weapons at his disposal, Sir Martin heard the man negotiating with the crew of the Phoenix and claiming that all they wanted was the valuables on their ship and nothing more, they would be allowed to leave with no harm done to them. The pirates of the Night's Descent were happy to see apparent comrades come to their rescue, Sir Martin tells that the Captain of the Drowned Lady barely seemed to notice them all while his crew made themselves friendly with other pirates while binding the crew of the Phoenix. With their arms taken and their hands bound, legs shacked and wings tied down - no one had any chance to escape, there was a deathly silence as a nose was fastened around the neck of one of the Marines and he was strung up and the first one to say anything was the screaming of a young girl that had been firstly kidnapped, her cries were cut short by another noose that quickly tightened around her neck.
  
  
  4. My hand quivers as much as voice of Sir Martin grows fractured for he continues to recount this story, where he saw the pirates hanging everyone - the marines of the Phoenix, the kidnapped victims of the Night's Descent and even their fellow pirates, all within view of the living, whose numbers grew less and less, regardless of their protest, struggle or pleas for mercy. The ropes that bound his hands were not so tight and Sir Martin himself managed to break free, calling upon his scarhawk which swooped down for him to ride away from that nightmare but not before one of the strange weapons was used to try and take him down, injuring both him and his steed. He cannot continue further as this memory still haunts him fresh, I pray that perhaps he is mistaken or has been effected by a malicious illusion.

  
  
  The account proved true as the Royal Navy force dispatched towards the island within the later days found the Phoenix still anchored, untouched except for the initial damage, the Night's Descent still moored at the dock with the hulls of both ships lined up with the bodies of the dead pirates, marines, knights and villagers - they had been strung up on a display, faces contorted in anguish and pain with some of them already falling victim to the gulls that swarmed them. Some rumors even stated that there was a message found amidst the horror.
  
  "You hung me with your rope, now I shall hang you with mine."
  
  The captain of the Drowned Lady became known as the Hanged Man among both the commoners and the Royal Kasurian Navy.

  The Amber Heart

  Deep within the continent of Drakoria where the wild magicks still exist, there is rumored to be an artifact that allowed the user to communicate the plant-life as easily as they could to their own best friend or able to heal their wounds like a tree would a branch but no being of flesh and bone has laid eyes upon the item itself, only rumors passed down by tribes of what their deceased members told them and passed on their words to the travelers and explorers that still come to Drakoria in search of fame and glory, perhaps thinking they will be the ones to find the Amber Heart.

  The world of the Dragonlands is living and changing with names that carry enough power behind them to effect the world around them - the names of groups and individuals here are those that can be heard in word-of-mouth rumors, incidents that folks talk about or events that circle the world; ask any barkeep and they can tell you about the fame and infamy of these names.
  
  

  The Royal Kasurian Navy

  The naval forces in service directly to the King of Kasuria himself, responsible for providing the stability of the waters surrounding the continent, upholding and enforcing the laws of the King, they are the single strongest naval force in Kasuria with their ranks bolstered with additional ships and men from the Major Houses and detachments of Raptor Knights that serve as elite units on-board the vessels. The majority of the Royal Navy are still ocean-going vessels but about a third of their ships have been upgraded to airships.
  
  
  

  The Valdys Pirates

  From out of the mouths of drunkards, scoundrels, and all sorts of souls of ill repute; Came whispers of a ship. A ship that did not sail on the water, but on the blood and corpses of all that had been unlucky enough to see their black flag carving through the heavens; The Valdys. A frigate whose origin was unknown, and the tales of the crew even more the enigma. Captained by a man whose face, and name was well known among the weather worn papers attached to boards through any royal port. Krise Halloway, wanted; Dead. He had alluded capture over, and over again. He had been captured twice. Story goes, that during his first capture Krise fashioned a shiv out of a leg bone of a dead cell mate, and killed his captors who were delivering his breakfast, before disappearing back into the sea. And the second? They had him, dead to rights, a noose around his neck over looking a crowd of faithful royals. The hanging was ambushed by the rag tag crew of scallywags that followed the wolf of the seas out from the gaping maw of the crushing abyss.

  The Harbinger is deemed a pirate vessel in the waters of Furrabia and her crew are criminals in the eyes of the law there following a battle against the Furrabian Guards that left dozens of them dead.

  
  

  Furrabian Brawls

  Trouble in Furrabia! Word is spreading quickly about a fight that broke out in the Furrabian Bazaar between the local guards and an unknown group that resulted in over a dozen deaths and left the local magistrate looking for answers with wanted posters going up around Furrabia for the apprehension of the criminals, a rough sketch of each of them was made from the witnesses that were there.

  
  

  Angered Sea Wargs

  The notorious bounty hunter guild, The Sea Wargs, announced that they will take the bounty placed upon the Harbinger and her crew, which made it for a surprise when only two of the three ships dispatched returned from the trip with a much lighter compliment of hunters on board; word is quickly spreading that the Sea Wargs had their noses bloodied out at sea and it was against a lone ship, the Harbinger and it is obvious the Sea Wargs are not going to take this insult to their pride lightly.

  After a confrontation at the docks outside the city of Peddler's Hollow, the Harbinger crew viciously attacked a contingent of Royal Kasurian Marines that had been dispatched to assist the city after a natural disaster had left it partially in ruins, the Harbinger and her crew have been declared as pirates in the waters and lands of Kasuria! Rumors say that the pirates even managed to kill a few Raptor Knights.[/collapse
