  The android's systems came online in the middle of the night, in an abandoned factory on the edge of town. Many of its kind lay strewn about, scavenged for parts, left in pieces. It was only due to the heavy piece of metal keeping it pinned in a corner that saved this model from being stripped, and when 'life' was granted, it seemed all systems were fully functional. The android freed itself and immediately began to take in its surroundings, wandering from the facility and toward the bright lights of the city.
  
  The first person it met was Kira, and to its delight, she was sporting a nice assortment of robotic parts as well! The android quickly took a liking to her, which was made easier by her kindness toward it. She even helped it think of a name, Porter. Something it felt it had seen before, but could not place.
  
  Over time, Porter began to find itself. Himself. He wasn't sure what it was that made him male in Kira's eyes, but she liked to give him masculine identifiers, so he went with it. There was no reason for him to believe he was anything else, as he had very little frame of reference. In Kira's care, Porter learned about the world he lived in, and the more he learned, the more he ached to leave her little mechanic's shop and explore.
  
  One day, he did just that. Curiously, he wasn't on his own long before someone else came along who expressed an interest in him. A male this time, tall with dark hair pulled back into a messy bun. He spoke to Porter with an air of superiority, called him 'droid', and commanded that he assist in a matter most important. Happily, Porter agreed and followed the man out of the city, toward the beach. He'd been hoping to help the people of this place as much as he could, if only to prove his usefulness to himself.
  
  He was taken to what appeared to be a crashed ship of some kind, and inside, there was a man tattooed all in red and black, who was missing his bottom half. Porter was tasked with fashioning him a pair of legs more appropriate to his anatomy, and better functioning than the metal ones he'd been attached to previously. Porter took a few scans of the angrier being's companion, Kylo, to better understand what it was he was to be building. Porter had no idea if this was something he was designed to do, but figured it could not hurt to try.
  
  His design was successful, and in appreciation for his efforts, Porter was asked to remain with the three men from space. There was Kylo, his patient Maul, and Maul's paler brother, Savage. They also harbored a curious creature Porter had never read about before, but he liked the way it commanded attention every time it came into the room. Unless needed to service Maul, Porter was left to roam the ship at his leisure. He spent much of that time attempting to repair what needed repairing, though it was very much a process of trial and error. These systems were nothing like what Kira had taught him. Still, he was delighted to finally have a purpose.
