  The Thief

  
  
  

  Faizer moved cautiously through the crowd. Tall, leather boots danced artfully among embroided slippers and jewelled sandals. The young man reached the curtained doorway and paused. The desert sun had caused freckles to emerge across his bronzed skin. He sighed, tugging on the front of his crimson, quilted jacket. Alluriamus was a man of taste- if nothing else, with locks of wavy, black hair framing his face. He kept a dagger strapped to one thigh, and slept with it clasped against his bosom. Faizer wore large, golden hoops in both ears and, on the occasion, a red scarf to tie up his long hair.
  
  Buildings draped in tapestries rise up out of the desert, colourful windows and painted doors are cut into the walls of the harsh mesa. Westerners have encroached upon this sacred land, forcing their cruel religion on the pitiable and impressionable. The city spans half the desert- and welcomes all, but spares none...

• Faizer can generally be found on street corners, in the quieter parts of town. He peddles a variety of wares (mostly stolen), and typically responds to his goods being turned down with a quick delve into the stranger's pockets... Faizer prefers the arts over thievery- and thievery over brute force. After a long day of conning citizens and provoking the law, Faizer usually retires to the nearest inn. He isn't much of a drinker, however. Faizer's routine regularly changes. He doesn't really have a 'legally recognised' career. Expect to find Faizer wandering around most anywhere- from the local alienage to the glistening coast. Faizer can often be found with his head buried in a book of arcane studies, contemplating the cosmos. On the rare occasion, he might be absorbed in the tall-tales of fellow bards.

• Species

  Faizer belongs to a race of lion-esque people*, characterised by their sharp, feline features and pointed ears. Many of them also exhibit tails, and some- such as Faizer himself- posses the lower body of a wildcat, much akin to centaurs. Faizer, however, is able to disguise his most true form using what knowledge he has of the arcane. Not only does he possess a human form, but a 'halfway' point that is more reminiscent of a satyr-like creature, with the legs and tail of a beast. Regardless of his form, Faizer's ears are most cat-like; being furred and lightly patterned at the tips.
  
  *The race of man-cats is diverse and colourful. Some folk wear fine raiments draped over their bestial halves (mostly as a status symbol), and others roam about unclothed and proud. Some of these people resemble common species with thick, striped fur and bushy tails. Others, like Faizer, are more alien- with long, slender toes and limbs, shorter haired and armed with whip-like, tufted tails.
