• Description

  Sven is one of those cliche guilty pleasure characters one gets verily attached to. He started off as the stoic silent dragon hunter...and in my attempts to make him more relatable and flawed he ended up being a lovable doofus and a total softie.
  
  But come now, a Slavic inspired fantasy dragon hunter MUST be buff (with a mild ale gut, stress, nonstop on the road diet of stale bread and hard cheeses and cured fatty meats have buried his rock hard abs in a soft layer of reality). Sometimes with full on beard, sometimes just a goatee, always with long hair. Sometimes he shaves his sides if he wants to feel intimidating...but such attempts at primping are often met with peels of laughter. He's got a crooked nose, small green eyes, but a sweet if not a little dumb disposition.
  
  Sven is a bit of a loner and seems to travel with a small zoo. Aside from his fancy pants War Horse Orion (a total Diva), he is known to keep the company of local stray dogs, a ferret (Remmy) , and a carrier pigeon (Kaline).
  
  He travels from town to town, doing what he can to help out with local dragon problems. He often ends up making a complete fool of himself chasing down small pest dragons (there's nothing for it, it comes with the territory), or being a total badass and taking down giant fire breathing beasties (I mean he has to be good at something for crying out loud. He's utterly useless everywhere else!)
  
  He's kind of like a cross between James Heriot from "All Creatures Great and Small," and Phoebus from Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame" with a sprinkle of "dumb body builder" thrown in for fun.
  
  He's a bit unlucky when it comes to ladies. He's got the looks, and he's nice. But watching him pick up a barmaid is a painfully awkward affair and best not observed.
  
  He currently works as a bodyguard for a traveling merchant (character does not belong to me).
  
  Sven is bisexual, but 80% of the time prefers ladies. Especially large ladies. He loves his curves and is far too content to just stick his face in some cleavage and keep it there. Figures he'd be a total bottom when it comes to dudes though.

• Biography

  But what is a Bara Dragon Hunter without a painfully cliche angsty backstory? I can't believe this made it into his personal history...but there we have it
  
  Oh what's this? Our young hero is secretly a prince? Someone please gag me with a spoon. He is the product of a second marriage, and not eligible for the throne. His older brother - Christopher - jealous with how close Sven was with their father, and spiteful of how he himself was treated, greatly disliked Sven. When their father passed away and Christopher assumed the throne, he deliberately set his brother up for failure. He made him a captain of the guard far too early, and used the young man's eagerness to prove himself against him by assigning tasks that were way out of Sven's capabilities. Christopher was bitter, and a little eccentric, but he was a far better ruler than their father, who had bankrupted their kingdom and left it a mess. Sven, at the time, was still obsessed with their father and in utter denial that he could do any wrong. He was one of those idiot boys who thought chivalry, loyalty, and glory were all that mattered. He adored his older brother, and was ignorant of the contempt Christopher held for him.
  
  Eventually Sven was bid to go lead an expedition to seek out a dragon nest that was said to be the source of a lot of the castle's dragon attacks (which have gotten worse of late). He was to find out what he could about the nest, and lead a small army to destroy it. Sven was fed the wrong intel, and despite the protestations of his betters, he was desperate to prove himself and desperate for glory, and charged in for an attack. He had no idea that he had walked right into a trap. Most of his men were killed, and he somehow made it alive (being a spoiled brat trained from early age might have had something to do with it, or the fact that his men were loyal enough to his father's name that they protected him. In any case, he survived).
  
  He returned to his brother a failure, and was promptly exiled. He left his childhood sweetheart and home behind, to live a life of penance. For the longest time he thought everything was his fault (it only partially was). As he traveled the land he saw how ruined and impoverished it was. People hated his father and what he did to their kingdom. It took a few bar fights and near escapes for it to get through his thick skull that his father was in the wrong.
  
  Cue a few cliche years of self destructive behavior, and Sven finds himself employed by a mysterious merchant. The two become friends, and Sven learns that this merchant knows a great deal about dragons. The merchant agrees to teach Sven. Their story is an interesting one, but their friendship is a tale for another time.
