Hazamada is a walking paradox, in some ways. He seems to swing from narcissism to self-loathing, and from agreeable to hateful. It can be theorized that his frequent shifts are at least partially due to his Stand having a separate consciousness, but it's just as likely to be mental illness. He is known to be particularly unempathetic towards those he deems weaker than himself, abusing small animals for fun and fantasizing about physically and sexually assaulting other students. He's very short-tempered, and has little control over his anger issues. This most often manifests in him fighting other people, or just his own Stand. Rooted in his childhood, he doesn't really know how to vent his anger besides physically hurting other people. He becomes particularly irritable around well-liked people, as well as anyone who points out his 'edgy' behaviors. He currently meets the criteria for Borderline, Narcissistic, and Antisocial Personality Disorder, but as he's still a teenager, he's too young to be officially diagnosed. |

Hazamada's Stand, Surface, is normally bound in a wooden mannequin, not unlike the one Josuke destroyed. Its consciousness resides in Hazamada, however, until its abilities are activated. This means it can use any humanoid figure as a "base", including dolls and posable figures. From its base, Surface can take the form of any other human being Hazamada knows, and will adopt that person's personality, fingerprints, voice, and behaviors. The only way to tell Surface from the real thing is by the screw in the middle of the Stand's forehead, or by touching it, as Surface has the same texture as its base. Should the person copied be face-to-face with Surface, it can force the original to mimic its actions. This can go from simply moving their arms, to forcing them to stab their own eye out. Despite being a very useful Stand, it can be a handful, as Hazamada generally has to carry the mannequin around with him, and his confrontational nature makes fights between him and his Stand virtually inevitable. He most often uses it in sexual situations, or to alleviate his own loneliness. He takes care of his Stand quite well, frequently polishing it, oiling its joints, and replacing even mildly bent screws. It's not unusual for Hazamada to talk to it, even in mannequin form. |
