• Description

  Luna is what at first glance appears to be a normal arctic fox who likes to hide herself away from sight. She can be seen skirting the edges of crowds and searching through magic item shops for interesting magical objects or artifacts. Outside of first appearances, she is a somewhat talented mage who has focused her knowledge on illusion, ice and fire magics. She is still training, but mostly on her own time. She used to have a teacher, but he passed on, and passed the objective of unraveling the secrets of mana and magic to her in the process.
  
  She was a very shy girl, often times hiding away from sight as much as she could. She favored rainy and cloudy days where there would be less people. Past her inhibitions, she was very caring and concerned. Sometimes this concern got her into trouble with those she cares about as she can seem overly protective or overbearing. Her personality is also juxtaposed in a few other ways. Some days she might seem amiable and social, other days she might be grumpy and lock herself away to be alone. If you become a close friend, she will always be by your side when you need her.
  
  Luna's appearance was fairly normal for an arctic fox. She was about five and a half feet tall. She had soft, silken reddish brown hair that extended down to the middle of her back. She wore it in many different ways, tied up in a bun, in a ponytail, braids, and a lot of other hair styles depending on the day. She had soft aqua green eyes that had a dim sparkle to them, that almost seem to have curiosity and eagerness painted all over them. Her entire body is covered in a layer of fluffy, warm fur. Most of the fur is white, but she has black markings on her cheeks, thighs and the tip of her tail. Her fur changes thickness based on the season. It's shorter and more grey and black in the summer, and it gets thick and white in the winter. She almost always has her winter coat despite the changing seasons, because she lives in a place that is perpetually winter. Her back is also laden with markings, these ones were placed here though. They are black tattoos that appear runic in nature, weaving through her fur and skin in patterns that stretch from her lower back to the middle of her shoulder blades. Beneath her fur, the skin is scarred where she is tattoo'd. She is fairly curvy and feminine, her body is fairly mature and womanly despite her seemingly young age.
  
  
  
  Luna can often times be found wearing a particular set of robes she has multiple of. They are a soft blue-grey color. The robes are woven specifically with the purpose of protection from magic in mind. The robes go down to her ankles and have a big hood she can pull up to shadow her face and keep herself more hidden. Beneath her robe she wears a tight shirt and pair of cotton pants that hugged her body tightly. She has a few different belts, several around her legs, and a bigger belt around her waist. The leg belts are used to hold small pouches that she carries papers, quills, ink, alchemical ingredients and sometimes a few party tricks like smoke bombs in. Bound to one hip is a thick tome which Luna always has on her person, and is bound by chains. On her other hip she had several sword hilts with a different colored crystal embedded into each of the hilts' guards. There didn't even appear to be a blade attached to the hilts. Around her neck Luna wore an Adularia Moonstone choker that helped her be protected from magic. These moonstones were also placed in various places around her armor.

• Biography

  Luna dwells in on a world known as Nethaer, a world similar to Earth in many ways but more than equally as different. When the realm Earth resides in was formed, its lack of stability made it split into multiple echoes and slightly different variations. Each succeeding realm was more different from Earth than the last. Nethaer was the last realm that formed out is this destabilized energy. By the time reality had fully formed and solidified, the only two remaining realms were the two most extreme from one another, Earth and Nethaer. Many important pillars of reality that Earth had, were left out from this other realm, forming vacuums in the twin realm. These vacuums became filled with the more chaotic but potent residual aspects of reality. As Earth acquired technologies, machines and the light of gods; Nethaer flourished with magic, relentless power and darkness alike. The two realms were juxtaposed and separated thoroughly from one another, at just a distant enough length that over time some of these things began to flip into the other reality and become completely out of place. This caused magic to appear on Earth, and things of a mechanical nature to appear on Nethaer.
  
  With the reaction of Nethaer, the shadow of Earth begins the story of Luna. When Earth formed, so did the gods, deities, angels, demons and primal beings that resided between the two worlds. The gods and deities were able to slip between them with ease, the lesser primal beings could not. The angels found their way to Earth, and Nethaer needed some being to fill in that void. Balance was restored naturally, magic energy formed into beings. These beings had little form, and hardly could be considered individuals at first. They were sentient and powerful, but had little control over their ethereal nature. It took time, but eventually these magic beings gained control of their powers and assumed forms that most fit their individual personality. Some took the form of tall and lithe elves, some seemed to be anthropomorphic animals, others took the embodiment of elements like stone or iron. The first sentient individual among them took the form of a large sentient crystal, a being with true understanding of their place in the universe. All the others looked up to him as they all floated aimlessly in the atmosphere of Nethaer. This crystal spoke through thought alone, "Young ones, gather hither, create as you are." And so around this elder they build floating structures, weaving the magic that they were made of and the material around them into grand structures of crystal, marble, granite and many forms of limestone. As their homes and cities took form, so did their bodies, their thoughts focused on developing their new world also forced their bodies to take form. The great crystal that now lay in the center of their majestic and heavenly civilization spoke wisdom into them, "Beings of magic is what we are; the elemental forces that find home in your bosom have become life. See us as we are, we are the people tied from the thinnest string in reality itself. We shall be known as Aetherkin."
  
  The last words fell on their minds, spirits, as their gleaming civilization and their bodies had formed. This massive city that floated in the sky would be known as Aisthana. It stretched for many miles, sprawling and casting a large shadow on the world beneath it. It's walls contained every Aetherkin soul, which numbered in the hundreds of thousands. Just as they all had this realization of what they are, their crystal elder fell wholly silent in mind. They could not understand this silence, why they had lost the clarity and serenity they had while creating. They had no choice but to simply live their lives, now the in the first civilization on Nethaer, far in the sky. Everything that happened in Aetherkin society would seem very similar to the modern first world on Earth. None of the Aetherkin had animosity for one another, they were far more the same than they were disparate. Despite that these beings were made from magic, and they seemed to have an affinity for everything magical, not all of them had such talents. Many Aetherkin lived their lives as musicians, bakers, artists, poets, authors; Using different tools to weave something from nothing as they once had.
  
  As time went on in this peaceful place (many hundreds of years), some Aetherkin perished or faded into death. But as their physical body dissipated, their spirit remained intact. As the Aetherkin had given up this form, they could no longer interact with their ghostly original forms that were left from the corpses of the dead. A group of magically talented Aetherkin came together to discuss this happenstance, which planted the seed of turmoil in what was their previously idyllic bastion. Their intentions were good, in trying to decode the mysteries about their existence that had been left to them by their crystalline precursor. Simply having good intentions though was not enough to stop their lack of knowledge from causing harm to their kind. This group of powerful mages became known as the Lucent. Before many years, some Aetherkin had began to give birth to children, that often did not take their mother's form, or the form of their father. This event was completely sudden and unprecedented in any way. These children aged to adulthood over hundreds of years, which seemed part of a normal and average lifespan for them. Aetherkin often lived between 300 and 1000 years with a great deal of variation. Eventually, the lucent, who had been alive this entire time, seemingly not aging at all, began to notice a pattern. For every Aetherkin who died, another was born within 100 years after. The rate at which they were born at and died at were exactly equal. The Lucent took note of these things, and began to run experiments to find out their true nature. By researching this, they were able to discover that their was a realm that existed beside their own. Much like the planet beneath them they didn't understand, this other realm had a planet. Trying to tap into this knowledge, the Lucent began to work on portals, and summoning procedures. Every time they created a link between the two worlds, but the Aetherkin that made it to the other side of the portal found themselves in the atmosphere of Earth, devoid of anything.
  
  Using this knowledge, the Aetherkin adjusted the portals positions and were able to open portals to the planet beneath them, to which their surprise had other beings on it. Some of these beings appeared similar to the Aetherkin... Elves, anthropomorphic animals, elementals, faeries, all sorts of creatures of similar appearance. But they didn't feel the same. The energy around them was different, so the exploring Aetherkin did so at an arms length of everything else. This haughty behavior got them harshly judged, and they tended to be just as brusque and uncaring to these inhabitants as well. With the discovery of Nethaer, they made the discovery of religion. This was mysterious to them as they shared a relationship with a being, the crystal, that seemed similar to these gods and demi-gods the ground dwellers spoke of and worshiped. This was the final piece of information that the knownledge and research hungry Lucent needed to conduct what would be their final experiment. With the remains of their god-like elder at the center of their city, the Lucent began to try to construct a portal larger and different than any other. They were trying to contact a deity, in hopes of asserting their selves as higher beings that deserved more knowledge about existence and the power to enact what they think was right. They instructed all the Aetherkin to return to the city and pray toward their elder where a summoning circle was being constructed by the Lucent. Most Aetherkin didn't know what praying was, so they continued about their business and partially ignored the instruction.
  
  Just as the ritual had started, a very young girl stood in the window of the third story of her home. She stared in awe as the elder crystal passed between her and the sun. The light sparkled and glistened through the jagged formations at the heart of the towering crystalline structure. Her mother walked up behind her and held onto her with a smile so her little girl wouldn't fall out of the window. The magic reaction began, and the Lucent that had encircled around the center of the city, the center of their reaction. In one single moment, the crystal in the center seemed to cry out. Every Aetherkin looked in its direction. The young girl heard a word in her mind, as if the focus of all the souls in Aisthana had revived the first Aetherkin for a blink before the magic surrounding it took. "Go!" When the word bounced through the young girls mind, her body began to reject its soul, the first time it had happened to an Aetherkin. Her mother worried rested her on the ground as she convulsed and blue energy throbbed out of her skin. The last thing the little girl saw before her spirit left her body was the sunlight growing black. From the center of the crystal spread a black essence. Cracks formed, which made everyone gasp in surprise and slight horror. The horror in their eyes only grew as their elder shattered, sending giant black giant chunks tumbling through the air. The chunks destroyed houses and crushed some people. Panic spread like the darkness from the center of the city. The Lucent fought the black orb that began to grow where their beloved elder once stood. Their efforts were no use. They wanted to contact a god, a deity, to help them realize their nature... And so they did it. The black orb ripped into a huge portal, reality bending all over the city as an unfathomable abomination shredded into their universe, completely decimating the city and everyone who stood in it. Every Aetherkin that was killed in the carnage was devoured by this beast, their eternal spirits having their cycle ended by this chaotic and throbbing mass of blackness... Not even an hour later Aisthana lay in ruins, the energy leaving the once majestic city.
  
  A few remaining untainted shards of the crystal tumbled down to the planet below, leaving magical craters in their wake. As the number of Aetherkin dwindled down to just a few souls, Aisthana crumbled and decayed into floating ruins within only a few days. The Aetherkin's own desire to tamper with their nature and the nature of the universe had destroyed everything that they were. The only Aetherkin souls that remained were that of the little girl, fragments of the elder, and the tiny handful that had remained on the planet during this event. When the portal to their home had closed, they panicked and assumed the worst, going into hiding far from the other inhabitants of the realm, fading from history the trying to get back home.
