  Vanessa is the only daughter of Richard de Ros, a rich upper class businessman who loves his money more than his late wife or child. He deals mostly with shipping but also in real estate and stocks, as well anything profitable he can get his hands into, including the underworld and illegal businesses.
  
  Most of her life, Vanessa has been left to her own devices which typically involved spending her father's money and being a 'rebel' in small ways against the family name. Everything in life has been disposable to her so far, even her friends and occasional boyfriends, which she often leaves spurned and wanting for more. Despite this she has a delusional idea that someday she will meet someone and fall in love, when she is ready and on her terms only. This isn't how her father feels about it, he is constantly pushing her to marry someone else in the same business he is to strengthen his hold on the city.

  • Someone is out to get at her father and plans to kidnap Vanessa for ransom. Either your character comes across the kidnapping or is the person hired to do it.
