    Musician
    • Nazil is experienced with the Oud, an instrument widely prevalent among his region of origin. He is very skilled when handling the Oud, and the music he typically plays is reminiscent of his homeland, a distinctly foreign sound well suited to the more exotic places of the world.

    Tinkering
    • Small mechanisms easily offer up their secrets to the serpent's sharp mind, requiring very little experience with the device beforehand.

    Languages
    • The large Naga can speak and write, proficiently, in several different languages. Knowledge learned out of necessity during his worldly travels and extensive training, helping him to sell his trade and refine it. Languages include Common, Undercommon, Sign Language, Sylvan, Draconic, Infernal, and Abyssal.


    Hobbies

    Reading
    • The large Basilisk is more than happy enough, given the time, to find a quiet spot to read. Whether it be loosely piled in the library, or outside somewhere under the warming sun. This does not occur as much as he'd like, given his business and general schedule.

    Exploration
    • There are few things more exciting than discovery, so far as Nazil was concerned. When he wasn't to be found inside the oppressive bowels of The Golden Tether, or otherwise seeing to business, it was likely the large serpent was off somewhere. Slithering through the jungle in search of scarcely seen places.

    Hunting
    • Nazil is, quite obviously, a predator. While this isn't necessary to survive considering the luxurious nature of The Golden Tether, the activity remains a favorite of his to this day. Any predator is likely to understand the thrill of the hunt, and the unmatched adrenaline rush that accompanied it.

    Blacksmith/Enchanting Theory
    • This ties into the Naga's occupation, his trade. If one were to ask him, he'd say explain that there are a few plausible methods of enchantment. That is to say, imbuing regular objects with magical properties when compatible. Nazil is presently working on one of his own, but this is no small thing--the curious man had been at it near a decade now.

  • Seeking

    Business Associates
    • Contacts for easier/cheaper access to materials, including those that may be able to "acquire" hard to get components, for Nazil's enchanting. As well as the added bonus of said associate(s) personal contacts/influence as a means for the basilisk's personal and political machinations.

    Affiliation(s)
    • The path to power and influence isn't a one-way street figuratively speaking, and Nazil finds himself without a nation or faction to c all his own. One's diplomatic and politicking skills may be exceptional, but that doesn't matter when one speaks for none.
    		 Friends/Acquaintances
    • It's always good to have friends, or at the very least allies, when conducting business or working about dangerous parts of the world. This rings doubly true in a political world where double-crossing and back stabbing run unchecked.

    Enemies
    • What's life without a little challenge? Physical battle doesn't necessarily have to occur either, this could be a politically oriented rivalry. Or not. There might be blood everywhere, who knows?

  • Abilities

    Time and again legend or folklore point to the Basilisk as having the ability to kill with a glance. Whether this is function is a conscious act of the beast, or something it can not help, is not knowledge accessible to the masses--few reported cases of these creatures are genuine. In Nazil's case, whether or not to use this ability is a choice, but when he does the results are immediate. Akin to other serpentine legends, his victims are petrified in stone. If his glance is met through a reflection, and not directly, the victim does not suffer immediate death. Rather a physical paralysis that may last up to several days, assuming death does not occur via other means in that time. Phoenixes are immune to this deadly gaze.

    As is typical with snakes (or Naga) Nazil smells (and tastes) with his tongue, which can be spied regularly flicking from between his scaled lips. The amount of information Nazil acquires with this particular method is unknown, but hints and subtleties via conversation or interaction may lead one to believe that it is substantial. Nazil, being cold-blooded, also has an affinity for picking out sources of heat. As with warm-blooded creatures, he can generally tell when their bodies heat up or cool down. He's been quoted as saying "You hot-bloods are like beacons to me."

  • An Introduction to Magic

    The term Magic has two related meanings. First, it refers to a supernatural force or energy described as "the essence of life and creation." Second it refers to the practice of harnessing this force to produce changes in reality. Casting a spell is a three-step process. The first step is to gather energy. The second is to shape that energy with one's thoughts and feelings for achieving one's goal. The final step is to release the energy in the intended direction. Magic doesn't require props to function. Magic may not need props but people need them. Each prop has both a symbolic and practical reason for being part of a spell. Simple activities like lighting candles can be done in the mind. However, complicated spells have too many parts to keep track of: flows of energy, manipulating them and so on. Using props serve as a device to hold the meaning, the image that the user attaches to it.


    Schools of Magic

    Abjuration
    Spells that protect, block, or banish. An abjuration specialist is called an abjurer.

    Conjuration
    Spells that bring creatures or materials to the caster. A conjuration specialist is called a conjurer.

    Divination
    Spells that reveal information. A divination specialist is called a diviner.

    Enchantment
    Spells that imbue the recipient with some property or grant the caster power over another being. An enchantment specialist is called an enchanter.
    		 Evocation
    Spells that manipulate energy or create something from nothing. An evocation specialist is called an evoker.

    Illusion
    Spells that alter perception or create false images. An illusion specialist is called an illusionist.

    Necromancy
    Spells that manipulate, create, or destroy life or life force. A necromancy specialist is called a necromancer.

    Transmutation
    Spells that transform the recipient physically or change its properties in a more subtle way. A transmutation specialist is called a transmuter.

    Enchantment [subject to change]
    (Enchanting is the process of imbuing items (typically accessories, weapons or armor) with magical effects. There are two wAu2O2s.jpgtypes of enchantment that can be applied to any given item, active and passive. The active effect-type is applied when necessary, and the passive effect-type is always in working/applied. )

    Pricing Estimations

    Before any work begins a fee of ten (10) platinum must be payed, this serves a dual purpose; Payment for labor and a security deposit. Which is non-refundable. This is to ensure that Nazil does not get shafted on any potential business, considering the valuable nature of materials and labor hours required for enchanting.

    After successfully enchanting the item(s) in question, a specific price will be quoted. Delivery upon payment.
