The Three Laws Of Robotics
1.) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2.) A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3.) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
The scent of fresh cellophane, electricity and chrome greeted one's nose upon opening the box marked Chesterfield Companions Inc. The flesh like skin cool to the touch with a simplistic green heart button in the center of the formed chest. A simple press would bring the steady whir as the machine booted, green sensors lighting up slowly, one by one up the bridge of the smooth nose indicating the Appliance's charge level. Long synthetic lashes parted and the robotic eye whirled into focus as the engineered smile revealed the perfectly white teeth. The warm voice of an accomplished voice actress greeted one's ears in a smooth, melodic sound, leaving a sense of pleasantry with it.
"Greetings Sir or Madame, I am your friendly gynoid Appliance - Cleodora companion, number 562. My purpose is to provide companionship for those in need of my services. Please note the lights upon my nasal region. These lights serve as a reminder of my power level. Please allow me to enter a sleep mode if the lights upon the bridge of my nose begin to blink. In low power mode, I will respond to movement within a room or a command prompted by my name. For more information, please refer to my instruction manual which may be accessed in the box, or simply by saying 'Cleodora, Instruction Manual'.
