  (1) INTRODUCTION
  
  (1.1) THE WRITER
  
  I am Mr Brown. I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. My specialist field is psychological trauma an area within which I have worked over the past seven years. Full details of my qualifications entitling me to give expert opinion and evidence are set out at the end of this report.
  
  (1.2) INSTRUCTIONS
  
  This case concerns an incident dated 31 October 255 NE in which the patient was responsible for the interrogation of suspected double agents. Concerns have been raised about patients' mental state. Video and audio recording of the incident shows that patient severed suspects' artery, stripped naked and cradled suspect in her arms until rigor mortis set in. The footage is very difficult to watch. I am tasked with assessing Catherine's mental state and any psychological trauma induced after new information came to light clearing the suspects of any wrongdoing. Patient has slain five innocent men, two of whom she operated closely with for a few years.
  
  
  (2) INVESTIGATION
  
  (2.1) INTERVIEW

  (2.1.1) ON EXAMINATION
  
  Catherine appeared normal, if non-expressive. I am told that nobody in the organization has ever seen her so much as crack a smile or frown. She gave an entirely lucid and clear description of the incident in question, even the part about cradling the suspects as they bled to death. That last piece of information was freely given with no prompting on my part. She doesn't seem to see anything inappropriate about that. When informed of their innocence, Catherine offered me tea.
  
  (2.1.2) THE INCIDENT AND SUBSEQUENT DEVELOPMENTS
  
  On 31 October 255 NE Catherine was summoned to interrogate the suspects individually in a secure, secluded facility. She described in vivid detail how the interrogations unfolded.
  
  When Catherine arrived on the scene with the first suspect, she applied the usual techniques to get answers. The process took several hours, during which time she never complained of losing patience or growing irritable according to sources at the facility. When in need of sustenance, Catherine refused the offer of pizza and snacks posed to her by the staff and instead opted for basic, unflavored nutrient paste with water.
  
  Suspect 1 proved to be resistant to normal methods of interrogation. Catherine was ordered to proceed to enhanced interrogation, at which point she applied electric shocks, buckets of ice cold water to the face and an interesting but disturbing application of a bladed weapon to the suspects' toenails. When this failed (because the suspects were innocent), she was ordered to terminate the suspect.
  
  Suspect 2 did not respond positively to seeing the blood of Suspect 1 on Catherine's hands. Suspect 2 was a very large man and broke free of his restraints, at which time he struck Catherine so hard that he broke three of her ribs and threw her against the two way glass of the interrogation room. It cracked under the impact.
  
  Before the security team could respond, she successfully defended herself against Suspect 2 by cutting his left tendon when he charged at her to continue his assault. When he fell, she drove her blade precisely between his lumbar and sacral vertebrae, paralyzing Suspect 2 from the waist down.
  
  Undeterred by this, Catherine continued the interrogation. It was not discovered that her ribs were even broken until she was physically examined after all of the interrogations were complete. Catherine did not appear to express any pain during this time according to Mr. Jackson. Suspect 2 was ordered to be executed by Commanding Officer on scene when no more information could be retrieved.
  
  Suspect 3 was very cooperative after being told of what happened to Suspects 1 and 2. He maintained his innocence right up until his termination.
  
  Suspect 4 was someone that Catherine had worked with on previous occasions. He pleaded with her to believe him, to which she responded that whether she believed him or not was irrelevant. Commanding Officer on scene ordered his termination as well after several hours of enhanced interrogation involving rectal rehydration. Mr. Jackson notes this was not, in fact, Catherine's idea but that she did not shy away from performing this act on a former colleague.
  
  Suspect 5 is where the incident that prompted this evaluation happened. Suspect 5 had known Catherine longer than any of the previous ones. He trained her for over 8 months in the use of firearms and close quarters combat. Upon her graduation from his program, he bought her a kitten.
  
  This did not seem to matter to Catherine, who didn't hesitate to skip right to enhanced interrogation once again at the behest of the Commanding Officer on scene. At this point, she had been at it for over 48 hours straight with brief breaks in between. She cut Suspect 5's femoral artery and "spooned" with him until he bled to death. Catherine stripped naked to do this so that the blood on the floor stained her skin.
  
  Upon learning of this, the Commanding Officer sent Catherine to a medical examiner and was noted by Mr. Jackson as being "particularly disturbed" by this behavior. According to Mr. Jackson, everyone working in the facility that night was disquieted by this.
  
  Catherine does not show any signs of remorse for her actions. She doesn't dream about the incident. She doesn't seem to think about it at all.
  
  When informed of their innocence a few weeks later, Catherine reportedly carried on with what she was doing without missing a beat. This was the final straw and what prompted this examination.
  
  Her handler, who attended part of the interview, noted some of Catherine's strange behavior over the time he has been assigned to her. These included:
  
  

  1. Catherine does not respond to attempts at humor.
  2. She does not participate in any social gatherings with fellow Loyalists.
  3. The refusal of food is not an isolated incident. Catherine seems to prefer bland, tasteless nutrient paste.
  4. Catherine does not respond to extremes in temperature. Extreme heat and cold don't seem to bother her. One notable incident saw her nearly die of hypothermia, but she never once complained about the cold.
  5. Pain does not seem to affect her, either. She can be injured, arguably more easily than most due to her small stature, but she doesn't seem capable of discerning this.
  6. When meeting someone for the first time, Catherine will introduce herself with her operative number and only provide a name if prompted.

  
  
  (2.2) PREVIOUS PERSONAL HISTORY
  
  Very little is known about Catherine's history. She claims that there isn't anything notable to tell and records of her before her service are sealed. The most I have been able to uncover is that she was orphaned at a young age and joined the workforce straight away once her education was completed. Catherine has taken no lovers, is unmarried and has no children, nor does she express any interest in any of these things. This is very strange, considering her age. She should be extremely hormonal at this stage in her life.

  Beyond the hypothermia incident, her medical history is sealed. She is up to date on all vaccines and vitals appear normal.

  (3) DISCUSSION AND OPINION
  
  Following this series of interrogations, Catherine does not seem to have been altered in any significant fashion.
  
  She does not qualify for a diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. There seem to be no significant symptoms of trauma that I can find. However, from what I have been able to gather from outside sources that have had dealings with her, it is very apparent to me that she is suffering the most severe sense of detachment that I have ever seen. Stimuli that people normally react to like taste, touch and smell provoke little to no response.
  
  It is also very apparent to me that she does not form emotional bonds from the way she unflinchingly killed people that she knew and worked with. The lack of remorse, empathy and even sympathy as she recounted these events leads me to believe that she perhaps doesn't feel at all.
  
  (4) CONCLUSIONS
  
  (4.1) SUMMARY OF DIAGNOSIS
  
  Catherine has suffered some kind of trauma that has affected her brain's capacity to function. More in depth testing in regards to brain chemistry and impulses recommended.
  
  (4.2) CAUSATION
  
  Unclear. Her medical history is unavailable.
  
  (4.3) PROGNOSIS
  
  Catherine's case is both fascinating and terrifying. I do not know what to recommend since her general lack of feeling has allowed her to come through the incident seemingly unscathed. I would need access to her complete medical history to figure out what is required in her case, but I am not sure I even wish to see what made her this way. She was not supposed to be examined for any other conditions, but she exhibits an extreme level of physical, mental and emotional detachment from the world around her. This could cause her to harm herself unknowingly.
