  Novac had been working as a Navy Seal for close to 15 years. He has a special type of skill set that allows him to excel in what he does best. Catch and/or eliminate the bad guys. Despite the fact that he hasn't completely retired from the military, he doesn't get deployed as much unless it's needed. Now, he works for Basin City's CSSO program, fighting the really bad, bad guys, and trying to protect the innocent civilians of the city. With his experience in combat, along with a little bit of supernatural help from wizards, witches and angels, he's got the ability to take on those tough opponents and do what he has to do to get them down.
  
  No doubt, Novac's choice of weaponry is a gun. But he's tactical in many combats, though. Hand to hand, knife wielding, gun wielding... Being a navy seal, you need to know a lot of different things. While he's hardened in many situations, he's still a good man. He has a sense of humor and he's always there for people in need when they need him. He's definitely a man you would want on your side.
  
  

  

• Background

  His history isn't anything horrible, nor extravagant. His mother worked full time as a waitress, and his father, an aspiring author who struggled to get a decent book out for publishing. Over his childhood, he moved several times until they returned to Chicago for the remainder of his career in high school.
  
  During Dean's first year of college, his mother and father perished in a house fire due to a faulty outlet. He struggled for a long time to get back into school and eventually, opted to go into the Navy. A few years after that, he continued his schooling in criminal law while still enrolled in the navy. Eventually, he became consumed with his duties as an operative.
  
  While he never finish his degree, it seems he doesn't actually need it. His experience in the Navy has allowed him many opportunities to enhance his career. After spending the last several years in the Navy, he's settled down to special ops, only coming to help when needed. Every now and then, he's called back to the Navy to work. Not that he minds. Serving his country is all he knows, now. With no other family but those he works and fought with by his side, it's become his life.
