  • History

    Baron Vengeous is a Scottish political and military leader, as well as one of the most powerful figures in the Faceless Church, which ruled Europe and the UK from 1591 to 1930. A veteran infantryman of the Untold War, he was a recipient of numerous medallions for bravery. He was the last commander of Sguadron Trodaire 1 (Sguadron 1), the infantry division that took a prominent role in the Untold War and its operations.

    During the Greater War, Vengeous was assigned to be one of Mevolent's Three Generals. He was the leader of the fanatical Diablerie, a cult dedicated to bringing the Faceless Ones back through any means necessary. It was mentioned that the Torment, despite harboring a dislike for both sides of the Greater War, decided that Vengeous was the worst of two evils. The Torment set out to kill Vengeous. However, sometime after 1861, Vengeous had a legendary battle with Skulduggery Pleasant, in which Vengeous was defeated by having a stick of dynamite thrown at him. The Baron was then taken to a maximum security prison in Russia. The Torment, with Vengeous safely locked away, saw no reason to continue hunting the man.

    Earlier in the War, Vengeous encountered Saracen Rue in Leeds. He also fought at the Battle of Black Rock, and was driven into retreat by the mother of Ghastly Bespoke, alongside Nefarian Serpine.

    After the War, Vengeous was convicted of conspiracy, crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity at his trial in 1931. He was sentenced to death by hanging but, because the Irish Sanctuary wished to look rational and humane to the general public, chose to imprison him for life instead.

    Upon escaping prison in 2008 and returning to Ireland to bring back the Faceless Ones, Vengeous ordered the retrieval of the Grotesquery. However, it was on April 1 of that same year in which Vengeous was killed by said creature after failing to protect it.

    Like the others in the Leibniz Universe, Vengeous is alive.

    Vengeous yields an Adept Magic discipline that allows him to make objects rupture and explode with a mere glance. His eyes flash yellow when he uses this ability. Although not magical, Vengeous also holds great skill with his cutlass. Combined with his inhumane speed, he is a formidable foe in battle.
