Lucien Grey

Born to a lower middle-class family, Pluto always excelled in physical activities, but his academic record suffered, although it was clear that he was of a very respectable intelligence. As a child, he was hotheaded and something of a trouble-maker; he was forever getting into fights, and coming home with black eyes and skinned knees. His fights tended to be started while trying to protect his little sister, Catharine.
She was very pretty and deadly smart; a force of nature whom Pluto was determined to protect. All anyone had to do to start a fight with him was to insult her- or just to look at him the wrong way, really.
His family despaired, trying to find some activity or other to distract him away from his violent pursuits, but nothing seemed to stick, whether they tried involving him in music, sports, academia, or an artistic hobby.

As a teenager, Pluto's wayward habits continued, with his fights becoming more and more violent. More than once, he was excluded from his school for his behaviour. Nobody could find a cause for it; he was just an angry teenager.
Leaving school aged 16, he immediately signed up for the army, and served for nine years. Through the army, he found an outlet for his physical prowess, and developed an incredible ability as a sniper.

Eventually, he left, aged 25. His sister had died of a brain tumour a few years previous, and Pluto was more or less alone. For a year, he was unemployed, mostly just getting by on an army pension and keeping his skills sharp at a local shooting range.
He was picked up by Lucien when they were fourteen, to act as their bodyguard. Although he rather despised being hired as the bodyguard for a child, the pay was extremely good and Lucien rather reminded Pluto of Catharine, with their stubborn determination, intelligence, and prettiness. He also quickly discovered the reason he was hired: already, Lu was involved in some fairly high level crime, and putting themself in danger on a daily basis.

When Lu faked their death, aged 15, they discussed it with Pluto beforehand, giving him the option to leave, with a handsome pay to help him until he found another job, or to follow through, to help them fake both of their deaths, to kill Philip Wilde and dedicate the next few years of his life to them. Pluto agreed without hesitation.
He spent the next few years protecting them, making sure they were safe, that they slept with reasonable regularity, and ate occasionally. He also became the one to guide them through their panic attacks, and to try to prevent them happening.

Since then, he's been a vital part of Lu's work, accompanying them everywhere and anywhere, acting as their bodyguard and occasional adviser, especially as they come across situations they have no experience in and he does. He's highly respected by them, and they trust him greatly. Pluto is one of the very few people permitted to tease Lu, or to give them anything that could be perceived as an order.
