Eccentric. That's one way to phrase it. The tiny witch is eccentric, that's all. That's why she likes to look a bit...feline. From the dark makeup surrounding eerily green eyes to the cute little hairstyle that pricks up like ears. It couldn't have anything to do with an unusual heritage...not that being American Irish is unusual, mind you. It's not related to the fact that she comes from a long line of witches with an inhuman origin. Something with a touch of the fae about it. Something mischievous and and feline. The Cat Sidhe is a creature of Irish folklore with a quietly storied history. Thought to be a black cat with a white spot on its chest, it is said to be as large as a dog, and often seen with its back arched and fur bristling. Rumored to steal the souls of corpses, the Cat Sidhe was often distracted by games, catnip, riddles, and music in order to keep it away from a corpse during the Wake. It was also said to bless houses that left saucers of milk out for it, on Samhain...or curse the houses that weren't thoughtful enough to do so. The Cat Sidhe is said to start out life as a witch, and is capable of transforming a total of nine times into their feline shape. On the ninth time, they will be be a cat for the rest of their lives. ...some people believe this is the origin of the Nine Lives myth. Velma isn't so sure. All she knows is that the more she's shifted into that feline shape, the more marks it's left upon her. She has shifted a total of six times so far. Her eyes have taken on a distinctly feline quality, and she now possesses feline ears and a tail. As such, she will only shapeshift if her life depends upon it. ∎⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ☽☆☾ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯∎ |
