      "Inside was a spirit of ancient times, back when the earth was new. For centuries, Croatoan had resided in the talisman, forever listening to the world around her. Like before, it was time to wage war with the spiritual desolation of modern civilization. They thought they owned the Earth, but they belonged to the Earth. They had not weaved the web of life, but were merely a strand on the web. What befalls the Earth, befalls the children of the Earth. It was time to punish the children...whatever they had done to the Earth, they had done to themselves..."
