Ky Lania

To know of Ky Lania is to know of myths, legends, and histories most have long forgotten. Follow not unless you are a scholar of the esoteric.

(The following may be considered IC knowledge if your character is learned. It is more likely you know only parts but feel free to use what you think might make things more interesting.)

Legends speak of three sisters created from celestial energies and walking the world millenia ago. They interbred with the varying species to create three distinct lineages. The sisters were known as Malef, Gaia, and Lania. Malef sowed seeds of evil upon the world, creating inherently evil races spreading them throughout the lands. Gaia, merged herself with the very earth and empowered the natural species with her power in order to resist Malef's blight upon the world. While her sisters fought Lania became bored. She found men, and found them amusing. Binding them to her will she pitted them against each other. Those that survived she mated with and produced a thousand children collectively known as the Lanians. They were like humans imbued with traits from a divine creature.

The Lanians eventually saw themselves as above all others, creating a massive castle and city that covered a continent. The Lanians ruled as the lords of this new civilization and all other races became their play things. Lania herself watched with amusement as her children gave into the decadent urges and boredom she had centuries before. The Lanians mated with all the other races, creating hybrids that were still known as Lanians. Over thousands of years, the populace of the city mostly consisted of Lanians. The ones descended purely from Lanians who had no taint of the outside species positioned themselves as rulers and called themselves the Royal Lanians. Each Emperor ruled for a thousand years, before his age made him unfit for the job. The second to last Emperor would be revered as a god among his people after his lifetime for being the greatest Emperor to ever sit upon the throne. It was through his leadership that the race conquered most of the known world. His name was Wildfire. Wildfire had one son. He was named Ky, after the first Lanian Emperor, Lord Kycol. Ky saw the decadence and wickedness of his people and fled his fate. He traveled the world for centuries under different guises. Notably as a kindly Alchemist, A healer, a guardian warrior, and even more still.

When Wildfire's life came near an end, an evil creature that advised the royal family for its entirety was tasked with bringing him back. By that point Ky had sired a hybrid son. Through machinations not entirely understood, the evil being known as The Saint found Ky and destroyed all good that was left in him. Situated upon the throne, the broken Ky was not meant to be a tyrant and opposed by rebels led by his own son, the Lanian Empire began to crumble. In his time as Emperor, Ky had a pureblood daughter known as Isabella who took the throne from him by coupe. Free of the spell that had brought him to want the crown, he exiled himself from the kingdom. Isabella would have been a strong Empress, but her father's failure had already doomed her Empire. It fell within a decade of her coronation.

Systematically destroyed by Ky's mysterious halfbreed son whose name had never been recorded, the Empire eventually fell into obscurity, and then was mostly but for a few books that seem now as fairy tales became only legend. No one knows what happened to Lord Ky after that. Some believe he died in exile, after all though they lived for centuries and sometimes even millenia, the Lanians still grew old and died. Some believe he found a way to live indefinitely, and some believe he slumbered beneath the castle, only to wake when he could live out his days in peace without anyone knowing the wickedness of his heritage.

Recently, rumors of a being resembling one of the fabled Pureblood Lanians has sprouted, bearing royal markings, and holding the signature Sword of Torment that Lord Ky took with him upon his exile. In a world with such a myriad of creatures though, it probably just some new offshoot of human that simply resembles the myth.
