Mathias grew up with a loving family consisting of two parents who both had their own abilities. It provided strong expectations for their son to also posess something special, something uniquely him. Suspiciouns of such abilities were confirmed when the parents caught their loving son with glimpses of magic sparkling at his fingertips when he was very young, but that was the only time they had witnessed their son using an ability they were yet to know of. After years of failing to take advantage of his ability, his parents sent him to a high end school, a college where children of special abilites went to hone in on their craft, and truly open up for this new world that they were part of from birth. Entering this school Mathias had to live there, and therefore he had to say goodbye to his parents for now, only able to see them during vacations. His Mother had hugged him, and had told him with a Motherly smile that she loved him, and that there was no rush. He should take his time and find who he was, and it didn't matter how long it took.
In the beginning things were normal. Well, as "normal" as they could be at a college for children with special abilities. Life was good, and Mathias made friends that could make him smile, including a very special friend who always kept him company. But compared to his good friend, no matter what he or the teachers did, his ability didn't come forth. Nothing happened. It left the teachers more and more impatient and Mathias still to this day remembers how one of the teachers looked at him with an offending gaze and said; "Are you sure you should be here? I'm beginning to believe you shouldn't be." But the older man had quickly gone back on his word and apologized.
It didn't continue that way though. Instead, things got worse. A LOT worse. Teachers begun taking advantage of people's abilities and took them away from their families one by one, making up stories that the students didn't have time and were working on their craft and shouldn't be disturbed, all sorts of exuses. It meant that the students, Mathias included, became secluded from the rest of the world, more and more rules being added to "secure" the students. The teachers' methods also grew more harsh and even at times grotesque. If a student didn't do as wished, they would at times even punish that student. And being the one student who hadn't honed in on his ability, Mathias was punished often, especially when he tried to escape. No matter what he did though, he would always be brought back into his room which had become more like a cell at this point.
He had just about given up when his friend planned a way for them to escape together. He promised Mathias' safety, that he would help him, that they would get out of this terrible place, and Mathias believed him. His friend followed through and the both of them escaped their prison only to get seperated because apparently the universe hated them. That was the only answer that Mathias could come up with. After escaping the man desperatly tried to find his parents again, but to no avail. He was heartbroken to find out that they had both passed away, one right after the other. It was said to be suicide because the school had informed them that Mathias had died while trying to use his ability, and that his body hadn't been able to handle it. Because of that, the mourning parents had ended their lives, unable to live a life without their precious son. Mathias fell to the ground, crying, screaming, destroyed from the inside. Was it even true? Why would his parents k-kill themselves? From his understanding his parents would have gone looking for him. How much of all of this was a big fat lie?
It was at this time that Mathias ever so slowly begun honing in on his ability, and through that figured out that his special ability was being able to communicate with animals. He had a special connection to them, didn't have to speak, one glance and a few words in his mind, and he was able to soothe an animal, bring them comfort, make them feel safe and heard. After a few years of practice he had gained a group of trusted fluffy friends who would walk through fire for him and with him. He took advantage of that when he finally located three of the teachers from that awful college that had gotten more and more bad publicity. One rainy night he brought a pack of wolves with him, and happily watched as they ripped the teachers apart with their sharp teeth and claws. This was what he needed. This was his revenge. For himself, for his parents, for all of the other students who had been used and abused by them. He left the teachers to drown in their own blood and it only took a minute or two before they died of blood loss. This was the beginning of his revenge spree, which was to haunt him forever.
But that didn't last very long. The remaining workers of the college became afraid of him and led him into a trap. It was that man, the male teacher, now old and grey and with glasses resting on his nose, that grabbed him and casted a manipulation spell on him, that led him to believe that he had gotten into an accident and had therefore lost his memories. It worked. Mathias forgot all about his life previously, his parents, the school. In the matter of nothing but a second he was no longer a threat to them, because he didn't even remember them.
This day Mathias remains unknowing of the past, living his life to the best of his abilities in the countryside where he works at stables, amongst horses as well as other animals. He knows how to ride and loves it, as well as sing and play music for himself and his fluffy friends. Every day and night wolves pace around his home and the stables to keep him safe. He dosen't need humans. All he needs is his special place in the animal kingdom. That is enough for him.
