  She stalked the evening with the silent grace of a predator; a slim creature that slipped through shadow and moonlight like an ethereal being, haunting the grounds of her home with a quiet, arrogant dignity. The moon gilded skin white as bone with bands of silver, the opalescent gleam of the evening sky captured in the subtle, vicious gleam of emerald eyes, several lifetimes lurking just beneath a thick, sooty fringe of lashes. She never saw figures moving through the night anymore, never cocked her head to listen to the quiet footsteps as people drifted back and forth, from tavern to woods, woods to tavern. But still, like a sentinel of old she lurked these grounds like a wraith, her fiery hair a brilliant, stark banner to the bleached landscape, falling down around narrow hips and long legs. A elegant hand tipped in vicious nails stroked the siding of the tavern, the faintest hint of claw marks left behind in the old wood. Building and woman had turned feral and dangerous, guarding each other with a single-minded enduring affection. Sharp teeth worried her lower lip as she peered into the shadows, the subtle shifting and hissing of the darkness as it creeped around her feet ignored. Like any other night there was nothing here; quiet as a whisper she disappeared into the treeline. A sauntering banshee beneath a canopy old as time.
