I considered naming this "Author's note", but it ended up being a lot of trivia instead? Perhaps not even that. It's more of a ramble. Either way you'll make an amateur writer really happy if you read this, even if it isn't exactly vital information. While Spirit's concept is loosely inspired by a sci-fi game called SOMA, everything written on his page is, in its entirety, completely original. He came into existence almost immediately after I played the game because it had such an emotional impact on me, and roleplay is, as we all know, a great outlet for feelings. I suggest playing it if you enjoy sci-fi, and won't get totally bummed out by existential questions and similar heavy themes. Then hit me up, so we can wallow in agony together. Spirit sat around for quite some time after one or two failed attempts to fit him into an apocalyptic setting. At one point I even considered deleting my precious brainchild, but he remained in my character's list, untouched. Waiting. Then Petrovalyc reached out to me, and I was able to integrate Spirit into the universe of The Galaxy Wide. You know, that badass, single longest running roleplay in the RPR sci-fi forum? That saved him from being deleted, most certainly. He got to live. |
So yeah. Spirit's been around for some time, but he's still work in progress. He probably always will be. I believe characters never get completed; with every sentence and word and syllable down to the letter, they only become more fully what they were always meant to be. It's a constant metamorphosis. |
