  📁 The Deadliest Dosage

  Another poor soul has been lost to the drug epidemic that has been growing ever more destructive, but my client doesn't seem to think it's something so simple. Instead, she has approached me teary-eyed, days after her best friend has been pronounced dead, and vehemently denied that someone she had been so close to had simply fallen into the same trap as so many around us. Naturally, the police are uninterested in investigating what looks to be an open and shut case, but I'm at least willing to give it closer look. Afterall, my client must have a suspect - one Mr. Kenneth Hovarth - in mind for a reason. So I have taken up looking closer into the man who had, in the days before that unfortunate overdose, slipped in and out of the deceased's life like a fleeting shadow. Who knows - maybe he had done more than just introduce a new poison into an innocent person's life but also administered it in malicious excess.
  

  
  

  📁 Luxury Linen Legacy

  A case I am pursuing whenever I can, though I can already see it being a long endeavor. A man approached with a fiery desire to see the fall of Li Ling, the current CEO of EB Textiles. I informed him that I was not myself capable of ruining her career, but the information that I might gather could help him if presented to the proper channels. That was, of course, if I could find anything, for my initial searches brought up nothing particularly damning. Not one to give up easily, I occasionally find myself following her around the city, taking photos and gathering pieces to put together later. A couple of called favors has granted me access to a number of her personal files, and, I am thinking, as I pick my way through them night after night, something is just not right about the documents.
  

  
  

  📁 Post-man Post-mortem

  Once again the police have a case that they are not willing to spend the man-hours on themselves, so it has been tossed on my desk instead. This one a John Doe found in the middle of the street, murdered (according to the coroner's report) with a strange letter in his clutches. I have looked over a copy of the letter many times, but, from what I have gathered, it is just cryptic nonsense that was meant for an address that does not even exist. Still, it is my only lead to both find the identity of our deceased delivery-man and, perhaps, the one who had done the deed.
  

  
  

  📁 The Lost Lover

  I wish I could let this one go, but it continues to haunt me. One of the only cases I have yet to close even months after I was first contacted by Ms. Kline about her soon-to-be husband's sudden disappearance. At first, I had pegged this case as the fiance being too much of a chicken to actually break off the wedding in person, but as I learned more I realized my first impressions were wrong. As I worked, Ms. Kline kept returning with letters from Henry (and the man was not so kind as to leave a legitimate return address), telling her that he loved her and begging her not to worry. The letters seemed sincere, and certainly not forged, but, we both wondered, why wouldn't he just return or tell her where he had gone? All leads I found led nowhere, there was no hint whatsoever that he had fled the city. Usually if one was going to make a break for it, they prepared profusely, but it seems that he really had suddenly up and left, as if he had disappeared into thin air. Ms. Kline continues to get roses simply signed 'H', as she once did when they had first been dating, and the florist who sends them was no help either. I cannot help but keep the case in the back of my mind, chasing after Henry like he is my Great White Whale any time I get even the slightest whiff of a clue.   📁 The Cold-Cut Cashbox Culprit

  Mr. Winslow, the owner of a local deli, was sure that one of his employees was stealing from the cashbox at the end of their shift, but he did not want to get the authorities involved without any evidence nor did he want to tip the suspect off before we could catch him. I quickly discovered that one of his 'sandwich artists' had just developed a heroin habit and was swiping extra twenties every other night to help fuel his new-found addiction. It was less a matter of money and more of principle to Mr. Winslow because he generously gave me the cash that his thief still had on him as a bonus along with the promise of free deli sandwiches for life. A most rewarding case.

  📁 Whoring Husband #36

  When Ms. Morreau asked me to find out whether or not her husband was cheating on her, I probably could have told her yes without even getting up from my chair. Nine times out of ten, that's the answer, especially when one is suspicious enough to hire me. But, I owed her my due diligence so I told her I would check him out. Sure enough, not two days later, I had a collection of photos taken on Mr. Morreau's lunchbreak where there was definitely eating out, but not at any respectable establishment, and instead with a redhead at a local hotel. Poor Ms. Morreau was understandably furious, but it was easy cash for me.
