Rick

Rick's been a trainer for almost 8 years, with numerous ups and downs in between. He's challenged a few Leagues, alone and as parts of groups. While he's an experienced battler, he mostly enjoys the travel and exploration elements of being a trainer. Since these seem to be what strengthen the bonds between trainer and 'mon the most.

That said, he's also seen more than his fair share of strife between people, pokemon, and people with positions of authority. Rick warily accepts that without laws and authorities there would be utter chaos, but he cannot trust that they have anything but selfish motives. The only kinds of people who willingly seek out power are the ones with special pet projects, not the selfless protectors.
As such, his views of crime and punishment are... complicated, to say the least.

Prior to joining the Avalon payroll, Rick spent much of his time assisting his favorite mentor and her youth program. Ask him about it sometime - he's always happy to chat about the kids and pokemon involved.

He's not particularly happy to be here. Not as a security guard, at least. But he'll do his best to do his job and do it well. Just don't ask about the terms of his employment. He was a... special hire, we'll say.

Rick is technically a zoroark pokemorph, which he hides through a personal illusion (he can't illusion other things, just himself to look like himself). While it's not common knowledge to other trainers, his teams have always been made aware, so it's not really a secret. Just something he'd rather not talk about with strangers. Since it'd be a bit unsettling to have some weird-looking zoroark guy jog by in his running shorts and say good morning. And it's really obnoxious when people chuck pokeballs at you as a reflex.

Incidentally, he doesn't actually throw pokeballs at potential teammates unless they really deserve it. Usually he'll walk it over personally.

He's got an older brother out there, somewhere in the world, but Rick hasn't seen him since he was 13 and won't talk about him. Whatever went down, Rick's still angry about it.
