  Ruthless is a water spirit - a dragon and a shapeshifter - who keeps guard over Kanoa and it's water elements, as well as making sure no one can steal the secrets of the blood and dark magics of the world. She is a guardian of sorts, keeping the heart safe from strangers who seek it to steal the magic for themselves. Kanoa is one of many small pocket dimensions within the universe that keeps powerful entities like Ruthless "hostage," however Kanoa is the only one that is in essence fully and completely vital to the universe and it's survival, as it houses the source of all the Universe's magic and without it, the universe would collapse upon itself and die.
  
  Within Kanoa are four guardian "sisters" (they're called sisters, but are not related in any way - historians claim they're related in the same way they claim many lesbians in history are just friends) who keep the basic magical elements of the universe in balance and one individual heart that runs the place: Ruthless, the river of Kanoa, Seda, the trees and forest of Kanoa, Zephyra, the winds of Kanoa, and Pyralis, the core and heart of Kanoa itself (re: the dimension, not the magic it holds), and Melancholy, keeper of the heart. She is close to her fellow guardians, except for Melancholy, whom she keeps a distance from due to the fact they are not supposed to be friends.
  
  Ruthless wishes she had the heat and passion of her sister, Pyralis, but is happier being cold, aloof, and far removed from her fellow guardians. She is quite literally the river of kanoa, a personification of its spirit in living, breathing flesh. She is naturally a serpentine dragon that sprawls out within the bed of the river and only wakes up in times of great stress, but she got tired of sleeping all the time and decided to instead stay awake and actively participate in the world around her.
  
  She, like the rest of the guardians, has no idea who or what she is and is on a quest to figure out herself and her world. Should she and the rest awaken, the universe will meet a peak in its life and either rebirth, fade away, or fulfill a point in its life that needs their help. once that is done, they will once more lose their memory and awake back home, unaware of what just happened or why they can't remember themselves.
