  My mother hated me and in turn I hated her. That's fair isn't it? I guess she had a better reason to hate me, after all I was only born because she was raped and she didn't have the heart to abort me. Maybe she thought that reason was a good enough excuse to treat me like shit, but I sure as hell didn't. I spent most of my time out of the house as a kid, searching for something interesting in the small village and fighting other children as a pass time.
  
  The streets weren't a good place for any child to ever be and as I got older I was taught and perfected the art of stealing. I wanted lots of things that I couldn't have, for example a mother who loved me and new shoes on feet. If I couldn't have those I would find a way to get them. I joined a gang of kids who were more like family to me than my mother would ever be and they treated me good, gave me food, new clothes, and something to do. For a troubleded kid like me, it was the perfect life.
  
  Then, a few days after my 13th birthday, my mother fell deathly ill. I was shocked at the time to feel like I cared about her but I knew what I had to do. I began stealing but this time in order to get my mother medicine and fresh food. Despite my efforts my mother grew increasingly ill and without the money to get help from a doctor (which would've taken me days upon days to steal and collect) we both knew that she was close to death.
  
  People say a lot of things about death that aren't true because when my mother died she looked so calm and happy that it was hard to believe she was in any pain at all. I remember the last words she said, how she said them with so much warmth and affection and how at peace she sounded. "Tegan..."
  
  And that was where my life ended and started all at once. I knew I could no longer be in the gang, I had to focus on making money and living on my own. Not problems any 13 year old should be facing but it's what I had to do. Once I got older I began my amateur fighting career. I would fight men and women in the underground as a way to earn money and by the time I turned 17 I was know as "The Fox" which became my fighting nickname.
  
  Fighting was perfect for me, I enjoyed it and it helped me make the money I needed to have a roof over my head and food on the table. I almost couldn't believe it when I was invited to train at a station in town, one where warriors from the main part of the kingdom came to visit family at and take time off.
  
  The guys took me as a joke. They only ever came to this small village on the outskirts of the city to take a vacation and they didn't exactly believe that when a girl walked in ready to train that she was being serious. After much arguing and debate amongst the men I was given one shot; fight any soldier they selected and I would be allowed to stay. Not only did I win but by the end of the night I had been invited to train in the largest city in the kingdom.
  
  It was a huge moment for me. How did a street rat like me go from being nobody to somebody? I was thrilled and took the opportunity in stride, happy to ditch the small village and all the negative memories I had there. When I arrived at the main kingdom I began my training as a warrior. It was tough work, harder then anything I had ever done but in the end I succeeded.
  
  I now work as an assassin and spy for my kingdom. I infiltrate enemy territory and take out important and influential people, gather and collect important information. I guess a girl born on accident had a reason to be here after all.
