• Background

  Stephen was a normal kid. He did well in school, participated in sports, and did relatively well with girls. But about a year after he went to college, something changed.
  
  He was hiking in the mountains near his school when he encountered a dying dog. He tried to comfort it, give it water, and then end it quickly for the poor creature, but at the last moment the dog snapped at him, digging its teeth into his forearm.
  
  A scar isn't all he took away from the encounter.
  
  Every full moon, Stephen turns into a massive, vicious killing machine. Sometimes it occurs on random nights. He retains some degree of control over himself during his 'fits', but once he tastes flesh he can't help himself. He would never harm anyone as a human, but when transforms his inhibitions disappear along with his care for other people.
  
  Recently, Stephen learned that on occasion he can intentionally initiate a transformation. When he does this, he retains full control of his faculties; the moon-lust isn't affecting him in this state, and so he can even remain human during self-inflicted transformations, but with the obvious advantages of being a giant, excessively muscular canine.
