• Biography

  Blake is a daughter of Kali Belladonna and Ghira Belladonna, Ghira was once the High Leader of the White Fang before choosing to step down and become a Chieftain of the Faunus island of Menagerie. Through this Blake was born into the White Fang a group of Faunus who strived to gain equality for the Faunus. She was born in Menagerie outside of the kingdoms of Remnant, she was involved in the protests against the unfair and discriminatory treatment of her people the Faunus. Even when the White Fang became a militant group she continued to stay for a short while longer her fighting type is greatly influenced by her training to be a guerrilla fighter. She later realizes that the turn to militancy trying to gain respect through fear was not the way to gain true equality. Leaving the White Fang to become a huntress she enrolled in Beacon Academy where she became a part of Team RWBY along with Ruby Rose, Yang Xiao Long, and Weiss Schnee.

• Description

  Blake is very light skinned, she has amber eyes and long black hair. She has cat ears which she normally chooses to hide underneath a large ribbon which helps to disguise her Faunus heritage from others. She generally wears purple eyeshadow, Catseye styled. She is of average height and slender but pear-shaped body. She wears a long white coat with a dark gray lining over a sleeveless black crop top. This crop top has diamond and rectangular shaped cutouts for the neckline. For her pants, she wears black fitted pants with a white belt with a white pouch at the back of it, additionally, she has a diagonal strap to sheathe her weapon Gambol Shroud. She also wears thigh-high black heeled boots with gold-coloured edging around the top, each of her boots bears the symbol of the Belladonna family in white on the outer thigh side.

• Powers/Abilities

  Semblance:
  
  Using her Semblance in mid-air to launch herself toward a Nevermore
  Blake's Semblance/Power allows her to create Shadow-clones. These clones can be used by Blake to either distract, shield, or hide from the enemy for a brief amount of time, which is demonstrated during her fight with the Atlesian Knight-130s and Roman Torchwick.
  
  Her first true use of it occurred during the "Black" Trailer, where she utilized it against the Spider Droid. Blake's first recorded use of her "Shadow" ability in the series proper is during "Players and Pieces" when she fights the Nevermore. During the latter battle, she is able to jump off one of her shadows to reach the Nevermore, confirming that there is some substance to her copies and they are not just illusions. A clone can exert a force on her, allowing her to reach greater heights.
  
  Blake uses this skill again frequently in "Black and White" against Roman, but he easily deflects most of Blake's attacks regardless. It is unknown exactly how long a shadow copy can appear for or how far away from Blake they can exist. So far, they have only appeared in Blake's immediate area, normally right next to her. Blake also uses it against Pyrrha during a food fight between both of their respective teams.

• Weapon

  There are three forms to Gambol Shroud. When sheathed, her weapon is able to slice opponents in two with its cleaver-like cover. However, when unsheathed, it becomes even deadlier, and Blake is able to use both the blade and sheath in tandem against her opponents. Blake is also capable of jumping large distances, leaping from building to building, and even on moving cars.
  
  She can also use Gambol Shroud as a conduit for her aura. Creating shockwave like attacks of varying intensities in conjunction with her swings, these attacks have been shown to be extremely effective and versatile as Blake has used them against Grimm, missiles, AK-130's and human opponents.
  
  She is also able to freely and quickly change the way she grips them. She can then fold the blade into a gun-blade which is attached to an extending ribbon, similar to the Japanese kusarigama or sickle-and-chain. Her technique with this form of Gambol Shroud is similar to Ruby's with Crescent Rose: she uses the recoil from the gun attached to her blade to increase the speed of her attacks, and can slice multiple enemies with Gambol Shroud from the ground or in the air through a whirling attack.
  
  Additionally, she uses the momentum of the weapon on the ribbon as an anchor to maneuver herself in midair and can grapple other opponents or objects from medium range to bring them into melee distance. She is quite accurate as well, as she was able to kill an Ursa with one strike during her meeting with Yang in the Emerald Forest. Though she is very talented at using Gambol Shroud offensively, it requires a lot of concentration, lowering her defensive capability and making her more susceptible to attacks overall.
  
  Because the sword portion of Gambol Shroud folds into a sickle, the end of the blade is double-edged, and she can use this double edge when it is in its sword form.
