• Biography

  It was during the year 182 that Sun Quan was born, in the middle of an era full of turmoil and chaos. Very close to the beginning of the Han dynasty in China. His father, Sun Jian, was a surging officer that helped take down one of the land's most fearsome tyrants, Dong Zhuo. And thus, the recognition of the Sun family spread across the country really fast. When his father held him in his arms for the first time, he was very delighted by Sun Quan's birth and stated that he would be the one to drive the household's future.
  
  From his early years of life, Sun Quan always lived surrounded by family. In an environment where he was taught that bonds, unity and loyalty were very important. Sooner than later, he became attached to his relatives, especially to his father and his elder brother, Sun Ce. The both of them dedicated themselves to teach Quan the ways of life according to the current times, they taught him all he had to know about war, fighting and commandership.
  
  Despite being in the midst of bloodshed, he lived an otherwise happy life during his childhood. However, he would receive the first strike from fate when he reached the age of 8. Unfortunately, his father was victim of an ambush led by the men of Huang Zu, one of the subjects of a warlord known as Liu Biao. The death of his father was a huge blow to Sun Quan and it probably lit the wick to a sequence of events that made him swallow many other bitter pills throughout his life.
  
  Making it through his youth after his father's death was no easy task. But thanks to the support of his family he was able to keep going. It was during this time that he began to become closer to his brother Ce, it seemed that the passing of their father had strengthed their bond even more. Regardless, Sun Quan followed his brother and made sure to learn all that he could from him, Ce himself seemed rather interested in preparing Quan to continue on his stead someday.
  
  Sun Ce was currently the one leading the army and his main objective was to seek new territories and potential allies that would help him establish a proper empire under his family's domain. Ergo, in 199, Ce starred a series of conquests in the Jiangdong and Wu regions, ones in which Sun Quan had few participations but still supported the cause and did what he could. Nonetheless, that didn't stop him from questioning himself and thinking whether he was worthy or not of succeeding his brother.
  
  When he became 18 years old, it was the turn of his brother Sun Ce to pass away next, the latter happened to slay a man known as Xu Gong and because of that, his men plotted to get revenge on Ce and sadly, they were successful. A very young and seemingly inexperienced Sun Quan had to forcibly take the reigns of the situation and assume leadership of the forces since Sun Ce's son, Sun Shao, was too young to take over for him.
  
  Now he had not only lost his father, but his beloved brother as well. He barely had enough time to cry and mourn his death since he had to stabilize the growing kingdom so it wouldn't crumble to pieces after Ce's passing. At first, many of his brother's former retainers looked at Sun Quan with disdain and were quite skeptical of his abilities as a ruler. But thanks to the support of one of Ce's long-time friends, Zhou Yu, and the advice of a brilliant scholar named Zhang Zhao, he was able to press forward.
  
  After winning the trust of Wu's officers, Sun Quan set sights on the upcoming new threat: Cao Cao, a formidable and intimidating warlord from the early years of the Han dynasty, who attempted to dispose of him and his kingdom in order to conquer the land. Even though the chances of winning were considerably low, Sun Quan listened to Zhou Yu and decided to battle Cao, with the help of a notorious strategist known as Zhuge Liang.
  
  Surprisingly, he was victorious. This triumph helped Sun Quan gain the respect of pretty much everyone within the army. In the following years, he decided to heighten his alliance with Liu Bei, his main ally during the battle against Cao Cao. Said alliance was strengthened with a political marriage between Liu Bei and Sun Quan's sister, Shangxiang. Even so, the union of both kingdoms didn't last long. A quarrel between the two of them led to the murder of Liu Bei's sworn brother, Guan Yu, and thus the alliance was ultimately broken.
  
  Years later, in 229, Sun Quan declared himself Emperor of Wu, to assert independence from Cao Pi, Cao Cao's son who forced the former Han dynasty monarch, Emperor Xian, to abdicate. The subsequent decade was about his battles against Cao Pi for domination. It was in 241 when his son and crowned prince, Sun Deng, passed away, an event that thereby marked the start of the slow but unavoidable downfall of his reign.
  
  A major conflict had started between Sun Quan's children over who would be the one to inherit his legacy. Amongst many treasons, deceptions, deaths and divisions conspired no less by those he called family, he completely lost his mind and his health eventually began to fall apart. Filled with grief and weariness, Sun Quan died in 252 at his seventies. He was buried and posthumously given the title of Great Emperor of Wu.

• Appearance

  Sun Quan is a young man with light tan skin color and a slightly rugged yet fit body, though he doesn't lean much towards the muscular side like his father or brother, his physique has the results of all the training he took during his youth. His hair is mahogany, usually long, with a part held in a high ponytail or bun and up to his nape, or simply kept short and slicked back. At times, he'll have a bushy, chin curtain beard, ending in a thick goatee. He also has long, bushy eyebrows of the same color as his hair.
  
  One of his most noticeable features are his prominent cheekbones. His eyes are of a deep, dark green color. When it comes to clothing, Sun Quan prefers coats that cover his shoulders, as well as vests and robes that drape his body. When it's long, he uses hair accessories to fasten it, such as pins and barrettes. During his years as a monarch, he would usually be seen wearing an imperial crown and costume in line with his title.

• Personality

  Unlike his father and brother, Sun Quan is perhaps the most serious individual out of the bunch. He greatly appreciates his ancestry and looks up to his forefathers. He developed a sense of cautiousness that makes him be more considerate when making decisions, he is hardly ever impulsive or quick-tempered, which doesn't mean that he doesn't lose his cool sometimes. He's normally calm and composed, while maintaining a reasonable and level-headed behavior.
  
  He is very fond of his family and allies, valuing relationships and strong bonds. He addresses his relatives and retainers with their respective courtesy names and titles. Because he highly regards loyalty, he doesn't tolerate treachery and has a hard time forgiving those who commit it, even if they're his loved ones. Despite being seemingly solemn and earnest most of the time, Sun Quan is not without an emotional side. When he is close to the other person enough, he begins to open up more about his feelings.
  
  Sun Quan may seem like an open book, but he does bottle up his negative thoughts and only allows them to be known to those he trusts the most. There may be times in which he constantly doubts himself and fears he might not be able to live up to the expectations. When he feels comfortable and starts developing affection towards someone, he becomes gentler and warmer, even more vulnerable and a little clumsy. When all reservations have disappeared though, he turns out to be a very passionate lover.
  
  One of his weaknesses is his love for alcohol. Sun Quan often drinks whenever he is free to do so but with it, comes the consequence of being a very awkward drunk, he tends to be quite the hard drinking, party man. The worst thing is that when he's under the effects of alcohol, he has poor judgment and can do silly and unexpected things. His sober self is aware of this problem and thus he feels very embarrassed whenever someone brings it up. Especially if he did something in particular during his drunkenness.

• Combat skills

  Almost naturally, Sun Quan always had expertise in the use of swords and blades. He inherited such abilities from his father and improved them on his own. His initial weapon had been a broadsword he wielded proudly, though not very swift or balanced at first, he still showed a decent display of swordsmanship, he usually fought only when necessary, and maybe that would have explained his lack of effectiveness.
  
  As he trained, he got better in terms of reach, strength and endurance; he would participate more in battle and fight, but always with care. He had gotten so skilled with swords that one time, he switched to a pronged sword that gave him a lot more of freedom and movement, his attacks became faster and graceful, but that wasn't all; Sun Quan was now able to imbue his spirit into his weapon, and so, he could pull out fire attacks with his blade. Nonetheless, he was just beginning to uncover his own skills.
  
  Some time elapsed and he changed his sword again to a juding dao that he would come to use in battle more often than not. Sun Quan was aware of his ability to imbue his spirit and materialize it into fire through his weapon, and thus he decided to spend more time discovering more about it. After long dedication and practice, he enhanced his power in a way that made him believe that maybe he had the ability to manipulate fire. Said belief was encouraged the moment he switched back to his broadsword only to find out he could now summon flames at will with it.

• Additional information

  ● His style/courtesy name is Zhongmou, which means "good at scheming".● In most asian cultures, it is common to write the last name before the first name, so he's "Sun Quan", meaning his name is "Quan" and not "Sun" as the latter is his last name.● This portrayal is based on his DW persona, but I do take facts and traits of his historical/real life counterpart and some of his characterization from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel.● This Sun Quan is slightly different from canon, in order to make up for his known flaws in a way that makes him seem believable enough to be considered accurate. So don't be surprised if my portrayal is different from what you imagined him to be.● Although I state in his "Basics" section that he's bisexual, I don't headcanon this as a fact or consider it true. It's just a notice to let my RP partners know I don't mind shipping him with men and women alike. So it's completely non-canon.
