Natalie Powlle

It had been a very quiet night, but it was the middle of the week. Most respectable people had gone to sleep long ago because they had to get up for work the next morning. So, other than Steve the homeless man who came in looking for pills, the ER was empty. Dr. Natalie Powel sat behind the check-in counter playing on her phone. There wasn't much else to do. Her kinky dark brown hair was up in a messy bun with escaping ringlets framing her face. She wore green scrubs with her ID badge clipped to her front pocket. Her white coat was slung lazily over the back of her chair.

Glancing at the time she sighed and spun started to spin the chair around in circles. Six more hours, she had six more hours than she would be off for four days, but she had to make it through this shift first. These were exactly the kind of nights she hated most. There was nothing to make them go by faster and she had half a mind to pop in her ear buds and watch some Netflix.

" well I guess tonight's a bust..."
Nat stopped spending the chair when she heard the voice
" what was that?"
She asked the orderly leaning against the other side of the counter. He was a young man early to mid twenties, a little too young for Nat, but he liked to chat her up when he was bored and he was always nice so Nat didn't mind
"Nothing, I was just saying how much of a bust tonight has been."
He repeated himself
" oh... yeah.. I was just about to watch some Netflix actually..."
Nat started but trailed off as she thought she caught the sounds of sirens.
" is that?..."
The young man asked looking towards the ER doors. The Sirens were getting louder now
"It sure is..."
Nat said as she straitened up in her chair and a couple other nurses came round to the front to see what the ambulance would bring them.
