Backstory
Gilda was born 25 years ago to Alaric, and Sybil Dermott whom had moved to the United States from Ireland, five years prior. Her father Alaric started what is now the largest finance company, Citi Inc, with thousands of Citi Banks across the world. Gilda grew up in a middle class home, which from ages three to ten progressed to an upper class home. She went from living in the suburbs, and going to public school, to living on an estate with guards, and going to a Catholic Private School by the time she was in middle school, until she graduated. During school, Gilda was not one of the best students when it came to grades, at least not as good as her parents wanted her to be. She was on the debate team, and cheer squad. Her childhood was riddled with arguments between her parents, and Alaric's abusive tenancies growing from yelling, to physical violence, on both her, and her mother.
Sybil divorced Alaric when Gilda was seventeen years old, threatening to go to court, but Alaric gave her two million dollars, and still sends her checks every month for one hundred thousand dollars to avoid her wrath. One thing he did do, was make sure she could never take his company for him, or claim she was meant to be co-owner. After several years of college, Gilda was made vice-president of Citi Inc, and is meant to be co-owner one day. However, her father told her long before, the only way she can ever be co-owner is when she is married, if he picks her husband. She agreed to this when she was eighteen, because she did not think it would matter very much. She still doesn't. Gilda made a deal with her father that she could divorce her new husband after a year if she couldn't stand him, and he agreed.
Alaric is still a very abusive, manipulative, lying, crooked businessman. He has ties to things, and hands in things Gilda is completely unaware of that will eventually catch up to him, and perhaps make Gilda's life harder and easier simultaneously.
Here's a catch - Gilda did get married, at twenty, to a man her father didn't chose. She was willing to put her goals behind her for Xavier, but, he died in a car crash two years into their marriage when she was twenty two. There are several things she does not remember about his death, and struggles to admit about their marriage. He was not the man she thought he was, nor the man she remembers him to be. Some of this is due to trauma, and some of this is due to denial.
Nevertheless, the arranged marriage deal was put back up on the table, as Gilda decided to throw herself back into the ring, and do whatever it takes to be on top. Planning on climbing her fathers back to lead the company, even if it's not her true dream, nor what would make her happiest.
Gilda is a very sensual, impassioned, stubborn, outspoken, and confident woman, but she can also be emotional, fragile, and vulnerable around the right people. Certain people who know how to push her buttons can also cause her to be emotionally volatile, temperament, and unforgiving.
