Background

• Quick Background

  Rien was weak at first. Yet through pure luck he acquired a strength while being chased. A strength that was strong enough to kill his chaser.
  
  Yet it being an accident meant that Rien actually has no idea how to truly use his power. Through years of constant hiding and anger he slowly uncovered the true nature of the power he absorbed. Yet even with this he was considered a runt from demons of similar strength. The only reason Rien was alive according to them was that the power that he stole wasn't letting others kill him.
  
  If the chosen roleplay for Rien is outside of the dimension of hell then this is what followed: While hiding from an arch demon/devil Rien experimented with his powers like normal. Yet this time he accidentally tore a spirit demon to shreds. Some how his ability imbued with the corpse/core of the demon while morphing it into a small dimensional rift. Rien couldn't fight back as the rift pulled him in only to spit him out into a green environment.
  
  Rien's Human Past
  Rien was once a criminally insane human who was executed from his own gang. He was then sent to hell for his deeds. He retained no memory of his previous self except an innate fear of rodents.
  
  One of which was the betrayal of trust. Having been the long time strategist for the gang Rien was organizing a heist. Though this time he intentionally crafted a strategy that would get them killed. He sent 5 others to their deaths for his own "amusement" and experiment. He admitted while being interrogated from his higher that their deaths were splendid to watch from afar. "It only goes to show how stupid you guys are" Rien chuckled before having his head slammed on a wall.
  
  His execution was a particularly cruel one. Having brutally murdered his own comrades Rien was to die from something even worse. A method of old, death by rat, was chosen. A cage was placed over Riens stomach with a single rat. The top was heated to the point of extreme discomfort forcing the rat to attempt to escape. It gnawed through Riens stomach in desperation; trying to get away from the heated metal. This, as one can imagine, killed Rien.

• Accidental Power.

  This is a story that explains how Rien "stumbled" on his power. It's a bit long but it's for those who like long stories. It doesn't explain anything after acquiring his power: I'll make a story on that on request though the quick bio should help explain the gist.
  
  Rien was originally an extremely low tier demon. An entity that didn't even have enough strength to fully build a body. He drifted around hell's land of fire in fear of being eaten alive. There were thousands of others like him. Though through luck and fear, out of the thousands, Rien was one of the few to successfully avoid the "feeders". A group of demons who would wade into the masses of spirit demons only to eat and fuel themselves. Their laughs seared into Rien's mind as they swallowed entities that were no different then himself. A constant reminder that death was a real possibility.
  
  If the "feeders" were east and south; the spirit demons were coming from the east while herding west. This greatly confused Rien. Why not head directly away from the "feeders" instead? He daringly pushed north-west. After a couple tramplings the northern border eventually came into view. The fiery lands abruptly turned to a chilling lake of ice on the other side. Its cold air stinging Riens core the closer he got. Other spirit demons struggled with all their might against the crowd trying to avoid falling into the Ice land. A spirit demon's cores was made of flame.
  
  This didn’t stop Rien. After weighing his two options; he willingly jumped into the frozen land. Horror took over the surrounding spirit demons. Extreme pain spiked into Rien’s heart on contact with the ice. Frost began to crawl over his core extinguishing it ever so slowly. Primal urges rose igniting a surging flame from a pure frenzy to fight off the ice. Though even such a bursting flame froze over causing Rien to fall unconscious.
  
  Upon waking Rien found great difficulty in any form of movement. An intense fear of the paralysis quickly grasped him. Panic caused Rien to start screeching. The only sound he could even muster. Yet as years went by, yes years, he began to regain his movement. Pulses started within his core as the flames, long since forgotten, reignited at his struggle. A mixture of ice and flame began mimicking a heart. Pulses of strength were all that kept Rien’s spiritual body from breaking down. An extremely unstable state.
  
  The spiritual body solidified by collecting falling snow fragments. They melted and then froze again making an outline of a body out of ice. Rien’s mouth was sealed shut as he became an unmoving statue. Only to suddenly break the joints with one final pulse from the core. He was free from the paralysis.
  
  Rien calmed down as movement returned to him. Though limited the body moved almost like a spiritual body. With a new found joy he pranced around. I’m free! I’m free! Oh joyous day this is! he thought. Then an idea struck Rien in the head. No longer suffering from the cold why not explore the ice lake?
  
  Nothing but Ice and snow stretched for miles. Demoralized Rien began to slow with each step. An endless stretch of ice and snow was the best definition he could muster for this new environment. So at the fortieth mile Rien sat down only to find his right hand sink into the snow and touch chilled skin. Some one else had given up by letting the cold reach them. Rien’s thoughts muddled as panic surged through him. He sprung up and ran away from the corpse.
  
  The ground rumbled with an intensity of an earthquake. Something slowly rose from the snow in front of Rien forcing him to come to a complete stop. The snow fell off it’s lengthy body revealing a serpent's tail quickly slipping into the ground. A great serpent was diving through the ice. Fear almost caused Rien’s legs to give out. Instead he turned and sprinted to the right. No, No, No, NO! I’m NOT GOING TO BE EATEN! Not Now! Not EVER!
  
  A blizzard had begun from the fallen snow infinitely rising and falling. Yet a building slowly came into view only a mile away from Rien. A safe haven. Yet as Rien got closer the rumbling started again. All the ice behind him violently started to break apart and a serpent's head broke out from underneath sending Rien 5 feet into the air. Only semi conscious on impact he slid and rolled across the ground in panic. The serpent, with its head 20 feet in the air, reared to find Rien. Luckily a body of ice blended extremely well with the lake making for an effective camouflage.
  
  Though like the reverse of a deer in headlights Rien got up only to run. This sudden movement caught the serpents right eye and it spun around to face him. With almost lightning speed the serpent lunged forward to strike at Rien who promptly dove towards the new found building. It missed him while causing the ice to burst apart from impact. This very explosion sent Rien tumbling through the front door of a mansion.
  
  Inside the area was covered in pictures of different, what seemed to be, dieing humans. Each dieing in a gruesome way. After picking himself up Rien darted forward. The serpent was under the water once again and there wasn’t much time before it tried to attack again. So Rien ran to the third floor. It consisted of only a single room which was barren in it’s design. Yet on entry the entire room lit up a vibrant color of red. Taken aback from the sudden light Rien stumbled backwards a bit. He carefully placed his hand in front of the source to slightly block the light out and proceeded to walk towards it. Only to find that the source was not only on the ceiling, but was smaller than his palm.
  
  When Rien touched the source with his left hand both the source and his hand melted in an instant. He screamed bloody murder as the red light condensed into what remained of his left arm. Immediately an intense rumbling vibrated throughout the mansion. While biting his lip Rien laid himself next to the only bed in the room. He grasped his left arm as shock took hold. Seconds later the mansion violently shook as the serpent broke through multiple floors through sheer force. At the third floor it didn’t take long for the serpent to find Rien and lung at him. With a single strike it swallowed Rien whole.
  
  Within the serpent's stomach a heat flushed through Rien's soul. Something wasn't letting the snake digest him. The heat grew and grew in intensity till Rien, muffled from the walls of the snake's digestive system, let out a blood curdling scream. He felt like lava was encompassing his ice body. When he reached the snake's stomach acid it turned to stone on contact with his body. Like a virus the whole surrounding area slowly became consumed in the stone. The snake started writhing in pain in an attempt to break away the stone. It lashed back and forth violently as stone began to surround its entire body. Rien ended up slamming his head against the newly formed stone only to pass out seconds later.
  
  Upon waking Rien found himself in a human like body. The ground was made of pure dust. He slowly pushed himself up. He still couldn't feel the cold atmosphere at all but the sensation of the ice surprised Rien. is... is this me? awe struck he stumbled around. Everything functioned as a normal body would though his right eye was blind. It took a couple hours for him to get used to the lack of vision.
  
  Hunger seeped into Rien's mind and it was on that day he knew exactly why the "feeders" existed. The cost of a body in this hell was cravings.
