• Tharin was born a bastard. His mother had given birth to him before she was assassinated when Tharin was just two years old. Satie, his mother, was disowned by her family for being pregnant with a child before she was married. Eindel and Tywin found him soon after his mother had been killed and they brought him in as their own son. A year after, Eindel gave birth to Arwen, and four years after Arwen was born, Fierla came along. Tharin grew up with both girls as if they were his sisters. And of course, the Benochs were a family of traditional Green Pact elves.
  
  Tywin taught Tharin how to wield a sword since the day he turned eight. Tharin grew up at the heels of Tywin Benoch. The man was his idol, in a way, as well as his father figure. As Tharin became older, he learned of his origins and for a time he tried to seek out his mother, not knowing that she had been killed.
  
  His life progressed fluidly. When he was seventeen, he had traveled to Cyrodiil with Tywin and he began to gain resentment toward the pact that the family lived by. When they returned to Valenwood, he was very open about his newfound feelings and had convinced Tywin to let him bring Arwen with him to Cyrodiil the next time he had to travel there. Arwen had developed her own opinion that was similar to Tharin's. She was much quieter about it even though the family knew of her change in heart.
  
  Both of them were looked down upon because of their beliefs against the pact. Tharin was often called the Benoch Apostate while Arwen was never referred to as an Apostate. Tharin wondered why Tywin hadn't subdued either of them. He soon got his punishment and Tywin disowned him and exiled him from the grove and unofficially, Valenwood. This was because Fiera's body was burned when she died rather than being eaten. And Tharin was responsible for her body's cremation.
  
  Tharin left after promising that he would come back for Arwen once he got his life together. He ventured out of Valenwood with no way of knowing where to go. Chorrol in Cyrodiil was his goal to make home, but he couldn't do it if he didn't have the funds. Tharin went all across Tamriel within the span of about two years, taking up work in places he could. The pay was very disappointing, and he couldn't get by the way he was living. He eventually found his way to Riften in Skyrim where he became part of the thieves guild after being pulled in by a man named Brynjolf.
  
  He was often put down by the guild members while his recruitment was still fresh. Vex seemed to hate him the most. Karliah, a pretty Dunmer woman wasn't harsh to him as the others were, and he came to like her in more ways than one. Gallus, her lover (Tharin was a bit disappointed when he found out), had also become friends with him. Gallus was the guild master, an Imperial man who people respected. Though he didn't do much to keep the other members from verbally abusing Tharin.
  
  His time in the guild grew and he had earned the mild respect from most of the members. Vex, however, still didn't like him. It was around this time when Tharin began to take on jobs with another Bosmer everyone knew as Mel. She was silent, swift, and deadly. Mel kept her profile low in the guild. Everyone knew her, but no one knew her well. Except for Delvin Mallory who seemed to know Mel on a personal level. He called her Mouse. The reasons behind the name were unknown.
  
  Tharin wasn't sure what Mel thought of him. She was so hard to read and always so silent. He figured that was the cause of Delvin's nickname for her. He had begun to feel similar feelings for Mel as he felt for Karliah. It was confusing. Tharin still had his goal for Chorrol in his mind, but the guild had its own place in his heart.
  
  Three years after joining the guild, Gallus was murdered and Karliah was put to blame and exiled for his death. Tharin was in a state of confusion. Karliah wouldn't have killed someone she loved. And losing both Gallus and Karliah put a strain on his emotions. He had nearly forgotten why he was earning his share. He had to remind himself that Arwen still needed him back in Valenwood. The whole guild was affected by Gallus' death. But Mel didn't seem to have much of an opinion.
  
  For the first time in what felt like ages, Mel spoke to him. What little words she had for him seemed to be the right ones to put his heart back in the right place.
