    I drew my inspiration for Variel from many sources, most notably The Talamasca, and her shifter abilities.

    The Talamasca is a fictional group created by Anne Rice and is featured in The Vampire Chronicles, and The Mayfair Witches. In television shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Rupert Giles) and Highlander (Joe Dawson) there are similar organizations.

    Also her shape shifting abilities were inspired by the Animorphs series by K.A. Applegate.
