• The Province of Calchester

  Calchester is a landlocked duchy surrounded by tall mountains. To the west are the taller and more jagged Rayvir Peaks. To the east, meeting the peaks to wrap around the wide basin, were the rolling Delta hills. In between the mountains was about 300 square miles of forest and farmland.
  
  The settlement of Calchester was located here, not far from a river which made it's way between the mountains. Iron gates on a brick wall surrounded the town. It was a bustling place, where traders set up markets along cobblestone streets.
  
  Farmers live in land cleared out, especially by the river. Many chose to live outside of the town's walls among the forest and meadows.
  
  On the other side of the river of the settlement and a few miles north was Calchester Keep. It's a tall castle where Calchester Royalty once lived. Now the place is mostly abandoned, though some say strange creatures live there.
  
  The Duke lives in Imondryar Manor, a home located on the outskirts of the woods near a clearing. He keeps himself hidden from the townsfolk. Many say he is odd, with strange habits and a thirst for the occult. Some swore people have disappeared after visiting his estate.

• Duke Zane The Mysterious

  Zane comes off cool and calculated. His eyes often convey lots of thought and emotion. They carry a hypnotic quality that can affect the living. He also has a charm that seems to affect even the supernatural. Zane is a diplomat at heart, honed over centuries of prominent political life. He is great at resolving disagreements and negotiating. He can be very convincing and has a habit of getting stuck in one's memory. He can be fairly playful, if not almost cheery at times. It all comes with a bit of sarcasm and an intellectual bite. His laugh can be contagious. He enjoys reading ancient manuscripts and working on supernatural experiments.
  
  The vampire speaks with an Old World Transylvanian accent. He carries the traits of an ancient clan. Blood sustains him, although he can also feed off the energy of the living. He has no reflection in the mirror. Cameras can only capture his image as a low resolution blur. His fangs are retractable and can be hidden from the living. He's a very sensual person, who has a habit of following his desires. There is something ethereal in the way he moves. He does so silently, almost like the wind. He can even fly, though it drains his energy quickly. Zane cannot handle sunlight and avoids it at all costs. Garlic and the cross also cause him great pain. When stalking prey, he often keeps his figure low. He can crawl and crouch while moving at fast speeds.
  
  Standing at six feet tall, his dark black hair stands out against his alabaster skin. There doesn't seem to be many red undertones in his complexion. Staring out from his square face are two silver-gray eyes. They seem to reflect the moonlight strong enough into a glow. His figure is heavily muscled, refined over the centuries. Smirks, smiles and grins often rest on his face.
  
  Zane has blended into human cultures since he died in 1487. He became a legend because he lived the same life as a ruler for 75 years of the 1500s. In this time, locals swore he did not age. He kept out of the public eye, so this was written off by history as a rumor. Over time, he began to move a lot and spend only a few years in the public eye. He used these times to aquire wealth and status. It was also a chance for him to enjoy the living world. After being underground since the 1920s, Zane is contemplating returning to the public once again.

• His Arsenal

  The engravings on Zane's weapons are part of a spell that gives each weapon the power to interact with the supernatural. In a storage locker of heavy oak, Zane keeps a flintlock, a rapier and a combat knife. It is kept locked by a powerful defensive spell that only allows him access.
  
  His flintlock is much quicker to reload than a typical one. Instead of being primed with gunpowder, ectoplasm is loaded into the rifle's plate. A silver ball is loaded, without the need to forcibly push the ammo with a rod. The enchanted silver of the ammo is drawn to the ectoplasm, causing the ball to fly into place. It fires with enough force to travel like a rifled bullet. The simple ammo is even capable of penetrating tough, modern plate armor. An axe is built into the front of the weapon. The pommel on the stock makes for an effective handhold. With Zane's quickness and agility, the axe is a formidable weapon.
  
  His rapier and combat knife are often used in tandem. He has spent hundreds of years perfecting his technique with these weapons. Not only is he accurate, but he has mastered the art of the faint. An opponent should be wary of any opening they see in his defense. Zane is likely to pull an inhuman twist and jump that will bring his knife in from an unexpected angle.
  
  His knife has the most intriguing engraving of the lot. A close look would show a skull motif carved among the vars enchanted shapes. Some say the skull is actually a trapped spirit from the underworld, transfixed into the weapon.
