• They called it Castle Nebel, and it had been named that centuries ago by the vampires who first inhabited the deep valley...and ever since then, the mist had moved in. The Valley of Ster wasn't a terrible place; the heavy mist left during the days, and the lands flourished; those who lived there held a higher standard of living than most, and homes weren't built of wood and dirt but stone and marble. It was well known that the Nacht family were vampires- immortal creatures, cold as stone with sharp fangs. But they had come to an agreement with these cities that moved into their lands. All the Nacht family wanted was to study humans, and their history, and if humans were willing to allow them, they would offer all that their lands could, and all that was in their power to make living easy. How could anyone refuse?
  
  The cities in the valley always enjoyed bountiful harvests and plenty of game, and when storms swept in and flooded smaller homes, they were welcomed into Castle Nebel, and the Nacht family would help to rebuild what had been destroyed.
  
  The vampires hunted and fed on deer and animals; centuries of drinking animal blood had adjusted them to it, and human blood had not touched the tongues of their family in ages. They were Purebloods, with vibrant red eyes and stark white hair, there was never a single child born of their blood who appeared any less regal than the last...but Anke was different.
  
  The young girl was born with an insatiable curiosity- from her earliest days she was toddling around, following human women and playing with human children. She grew up surrounded with the best her kind could offer; the child only drank the blood of young does, as pure as her hair and untouched by anything. She traveled alongside her father, absorbing the knowledge and history they found, and it was quickly discovered she was a talented warrior, with magic flowing through her blood like water in a river.
  
  Anke buried herself in books on combat and on enchantments. And with her power, came the hunger for more. On her 16th birthday, the first human went missing from the cities, and by the time her parents discovered what she had done, the girl had gone and wiped out an entire city. With a terrible lust for human blood in her veins, it was quickly decided that she would be killed, to protect the safety of the other humans...but by now, it was far too late, and when faced with the elders of her family ad her own parents, Anke slaughtered them all, consuming their blood just as she had done to the humans.
  
  
  Anke now rules over The Valley of Shadows, and though her hunger for blood has calmed, she has been known to consume as she pleases and take what she desires. She still maintains her families promises, but the mist lingers daily now, and those who intend to leave will find the mist too thick, enchanted so that they may never escape...
