Snickers, whispers and scoffs permeate the main streetway to the local town, rumours and lies thrown into the air about the local alchemist, "he's a monster" they'd say, "he steals children!", "he eats human hearts!". The alchemist, sat upon his carriage, ignores the threats and the occasional thrown stone. He no longer cared, however, he did his job and left.
Twenty minutes away, upon a hill overlooking the valley the town resides in, sits a house. A large house- not big enough to be a mansion, but enough to cast an ominous shadow over the hill at sundown. There lies the alchemist, in his home, hidden away from the rest if the world. Mysterious, vague, ever on the move, no one really knows who the alchemist is...
...Unless he had an apprentice.

So I've had this character for quite some time (though played on a different website), but he never got a chance to be his own character in his own role play, instead, showing up as a support character to create story opportunities for other characters down the line.
So the idea for the character is inspired by the amazing world building and characters in fictional series like "the spooks apprentice" and "the ancient magus bride", in which a character, unaware of the world beyond their own perspective and naive to the dangers around them- supernatural, magical and otherwise, serve as a conduit for the reader/watcher to be fed information about the world in an organic teacher/student dynamic. I'd love to tell a similar story, having the alchemist (danico) be the teacher figure, and your character be the student figure. The situations and circumstances that lead to danico taking on an apprentice/student/etc. is flexible and I don't really have that aspect planned. But I do have a couple story ideas I'd like to play out.

● The duo are sent to deal with a supernatural threat of some kind (Ghost, demon, what have you) and are seperated at some point during, leaning into the horror aspect of the supernatural, and could play out like a haunted house scenario.
● a villager is found dead in their home in a village further west. Ater the locals are unable to determine the cause of death, a family member of the victim calls on the alchemist to investigate after finding some inexplainable detail that couldnt be rationalised by non-supernatural means. This would play out like a supernatural buddy cop story, where the alchemist would take the apprentice through the evidence and an unfolding mystery.
We don't have to stick to these two, but they're what I've come up with so far.
This will be a pre-technology era setting- the effects of coal may be known, iron is mined and used to some effect, mostly in buildings and weapons, but there is no power or technology.
I am a multi-para med-adv literate writer. I'm not too fussed over minor grammatical and spelling errors, but I would prefer someone who can at least write a paragraph per reply. I'm planning for this to be a long-term role play, hopefully containing multiple stories.

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Renaissance
Distant war may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat will likely be summarized, not played out in detail.
Romantic themes are possible, but won't pan out. For example: unrequited love.
Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred. Will be played one-on-one.
