After enjoying a week in scientific studies and having enjoyed a substantial, fourteen-page roleplay at one time, I had thought to start another Final Fantasy Tactics based roleplay. Note, that this simple, dice rolling adventure is based upon the Final Fantasy Tactics realm of Ivalice, and information regarding the game itself is unnecessary.
What classes will be available?
I will allow all classes, even the broken ones, and the unique classes, if certain conditions are met through roleplay. Though I will have characters start as either squires or chemists, to which everyone can watch their characters grow in diversity and perhaps power, or presence. Classes from both editions of the game will be included. These include: Squire, Knight, Archer, Monk, Thief, Geomancer, Lancer, Samurai, Ninja, Dancer, Chemist, Priest, Wizard, Oracle, Time Mage, Mediator, Summoner, Bard, Calculator, Mime, and other special classes.
What races will be available?
All non-power holding races will be available! If there are powerful races (vampires, werewolves, devils, demons, angels, and others), as long as the player will allow me to give that character bonuses AND weaknesses in a balanced manner that will match well with the setting, they will be acceptable. Humans and furred beings are always acceptable.
How will classes advance?
During combat, every successful action will be rewarded with job points, or, JP. There will also be propositions, or short jobs that will reward those kindly with both money and JP. Not everything will need swords to be swung, but I will try to test the characters in all sorts of ways. The original game's path for class advancement will be followed, special cases being the War of the Lions classes. There is a flowchart around here, somewhere, that can explain most of this. Depending on the player input, the job points required to advance a class level may change, though I am thinking of a 10-15 job point gain per successful action, and a 125-250 per-level requirement for the next levels. The method that was selected was able to grant a new character enough experience to level a class with one battle.

It shows there are other skills other than Action skills. Can I equip all of them?
The action skills come with the classes. If your character is a squire/chemist, then she/he will have access to each class's action abilities, as long as they are purchased with JP. A character may have one Reaction skill, one Support skill, and one Movement skill, and those skills carry on between the classes, unless changed for other skills of the same nature. Some skills are not as important within the forum version, but they could be useful, if creativity was at foot.
Will my character die?
Tis' unlikely, but it could happen. Before there is an alarm to be set off, death is not always permanent. On the battlefield, priests and chemists can resurrect others, and in some cases, monks can as well, but at a lesser chance of success. Exercising caution, teamwork, and being aware of the surroundings will lead to less character death than not. Though, if the worst happens, and your character dies on the battlefield, there is a 3-turn-post period of time (where your order of posting will come up three times before your character succumbs to death), and if the current battle is finished within that time, your character will not die and can be helped back up.
What will I post when my character is lying on the ground, dying?
Gurgling sounds, I suppose. You could reach out to the others and spit some blood out, maybe they will get the idea to use a phoenix down on you, or resurrect you in any possible fashion. Attempting to gain any nearby character’s attention is probably the best idea, for a dying character.
What happens after the 3-turn-post limit, and I am not resurrected?
Hopefully this does not happen, truly, as I am a fair GM (game-master). But, in the rare, rare case that it does happen, the character's body will crystallize into an idly spinning, blue crystal, which will be left on the battlefield until someone absorbs its energy. A new character can be easily created, but whatever ranks in a class that the character had will be forfeited. A single class can be picked from the list that the character had, and whatever skills that class had unlocked will be available, while the others vanish. Equipment does not carry over to the new character.
Here are a few scenes that appeared in the last act:
Romance!
Within the sleeping quarters of the Soldier's Office, or, the barracks, a young man that had large, front teeth and beady little eyes was talking to a female squire, his arm against the wall and his posture leaned forward, while she stared at nothing. He starts off with, "Hey, how's it going?" He doesn't get a response, and his nose twitches, "So, ever been to Gariland? I hear it's a magical experience." He lifts his eyebrows twice, suggestively. The female squire rolls her eyes and looks away from him. The man's hand reaches out instinctively, but he retracts it, moving it to scratch at the back of his neck, "I hear the, uh, miner's guild is looking for a few people to protect one of their members, in Gariland...maybe you would like to watch my back while I watch" The female squire leaves the room. "Yours?" The man hangs his head.
Shopping!
She move back to the counter and placed her basket on it once again. "Well now, looks like you can't afford to be choosy now. Losing half your gold can't be good for your business. Now you have a choice, you can give me that 75 gold I wanted for my herbs or you can say no. However if you say no, I'll just take my stock with me and find another. In the current situation, they really can't afford to be choosy since they need to invest as much time into their stores as possible. It will be a race to see who will recover from this loss the fastest and who will be the causalities. I am pretty sure in such an environment, some will be willing to put their prejudice aside if it means a chance to one up a competitor wouldn't you say? Yet here I am at your door, offering you first chance at fine quality herbs at a good price."
Tragedy!
The door to the bookshop opened and the bell above dinged. Inside the shop, a cluttering of books stacked in shelves, most of them old and worn. Behind a small desk, a tall, gaunt man stood still, staring down at his ledger with the blankest of faces. When he looks up, his eyes show rings underneath them, his smile forced. His voice is quiet, and he looks outside the window when he speaks, "You're not the only of late. What do you have in mind?" He looks to the horned girl, his face turning into a sorrowful expression, "Such a sweet child.."
The merchant moves slowly around his desk and passes the horned girl, folding his hands behind his back as he watches those crossing the street, including a broad shouldered male with red hair, pass by his window in the direction away from the slums. He blinks, but not in surprise. A long pause before he speaks again, "You'll be my last customer." He looks over at the gold pouch and pushes it away, gently. "You can have it for free. I won't need it."
Character Driven Plot!
"No, I've a proposition instead."
Mr. Black seemed rather unafraid, even in the face of several bloodthirsty bandits who could well kill him the moment he missteps. His eyes scan the area, looking around for an escape route in case these talks go awry. He seemed to be faster than the lead bandit, but the others might be a problem, so with some hope nothing will go wrong. He reached for the sack of gold/Gil he had hidden on him as he began his speech.
"I heard you've marks on your heads, the lot of you. Likely the work of those Hokuten bastards, if I assume correctly. They are making all our lives living hells, be you assured of that. I have an idea that could make our lives worlds easier, however, but manpower is a vital ingredient. If you're worried I am a spy or such, then perish the thought, as I am but an angered merchant looking to rid this city of the occupying knights who leech off us, no matter the method. If you seek payment for such, as I assume you naturally would, I can provide."
Mr. Black pulled the sack of coin into plain view, and placed it on a nearby unoccupied crate, the same crate he decided to stand behind. He leaned forward, placing his hands on the crate's surface so his arms would act as supports to keep him from falling forward. He gave a half-smile as he continued his speech.
"Consider this bit of coin here an...an 'incentive', if you will. There will be more, if you desire. If you agree, I shall elaborate further on my plan. If you do agree, and we are successful, then we both shed a large burden off of our shoulders. Interested?"
Mystery!
While the horned girl read from her book, a certain page in the book looked to be inserted from a different book. Though the page matched the others with its beige coloring, it was composed of notes and a drawing of a young girl, dressed in the classic chemist clothing. The notes were scribbled. Mostly, but the ones written around the picture must have been in a different hand, as they were clearly understood., yet some words are underlined.
May 29th
After acquiring directions from the castle, we headed towards the volcano of Gulg, likely a name given to it by the local nomads. Our expedition members were highly excited to see what the recent shifts in the ground would produce, and we packed up readily enough.
May 30th
Having spent the entire day climbing up the south side of the volcano, our party stopped to rest. As soon as we had pitched our coverings, a tremble was felt underfoot. I had left my gear where it lay and went to see the others gathered around something. They were looking down, instead of up, like I had thought that they would and when I approached them, they simply stood still. At their feet was a body of a broken girl.
The rest of the report was nowhere to be found throughout the potions and plants book.
Combat!
Silindra couldn't bear to watch these goblins attack the poor chocobo so she made the decision to try and rescue it. She had always had a soft spot for chocobos after all.
She quickly picked up a branch that was lying down on the ground next to her and used the flame from her lantern to set the end on fire. She then set the lantern down and charged the goblins, waved the flaming stick in front of them, hoping to scare them off without a fight. If they didn't retreat however she wound attempt to smack them in the face with the burning end of the stick in order to defend both herself and the chocobo.
The two goblins watch the horned girl and her lighting of the makeshift weapon. One of them points to it and makes a funny face, "Gob-gobble!" The other one turns around and tackles its body into the chocobo, which pecked at its head.
The other goblin hops over a thick root and tackles the little girl, catching the fire stick in its face.

this catches my interest but i know nothing about FFT but it seems a bit like D&D
Final Fantasy Tactics is its own game, this is true. Dungeons and Dragons, which I adore, is different, as it has many dice rolls for every different skill and defenses, and actual stats. The system that I invented only used three features, to make it use the simplest of math.
These statistics include:
Hit points, the total health of the character.
Attack Power, the total damage the character's weapon does.
Evasion Rate, the chance on a 100 dice roll that the character dodges the attack.
When starting, there is a very, very slim chance that anyone dodges anything. It evolves into a brawl, of sorts, and is very interesting to watch/read.
Dungeons and Dragons has individual stats, that range from Strength to Charisma, and class-based saves, and skill checks/rolls, and initiative rolls...and many other rolls.

i know plenty about dnd, 3.0+ that is. i currently play every other week end, used to be every week end but scheduals changed for people. my character sethalith was originally a dnd character in 3.0/3.5 and kiran was in path finder. the current campaign is 4.0 the first time i've played a monk.
I have never played 4th edition of Dungeons and Dragons, and I do not hear a lot of praise for it, either. Pathfinder I adore, and I started my dungeoneering within 3.5 edition. Currently, I play Pathfinder every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, each with different characters.
But, this forum is now off topic! There is no knowledge requirement to play within this setting, and most medieval characters will be accepted, right away, and those that have racial abilities can be made to fit, by balancing.

Seth would have to be nerfed so much, so how about kiran?
There are no such thing as feats in this more general style of roleplay, but elves -are- allowed, without needing to be modified. The next question is, would you wish for her to start as a Squire, or Chemist? Squires are the starting class for the physical attackers and such, while Chemists are the starting class for the magical ones.
lol its a dude um the character originally started as a caster so... chemist? and i'm fine with not doing feats i just put the character directly into rpr
A very handsome one, at that. Very well. A chemist begins playing with a set of clothing, a cap, a dagger, and three potions.
They have a total of 38 hitpoints, to begin with.
They have an attack power of 3.
They have a evasion rate of 5%.
Now I would suggest finding other players, and I will try to do the same. One of the prior players is visiting China, the others, I do not know.
