The Help pages (lots of info can be found there!) or Help Forum would have been the places to check first, but there absolutely is a function to delete characters!

If you find yourself on the page to edit the character's profile instead, just click their name at the top, between "Your Stuff » Characters »" and "» Edit Profile" to get to the right page, where the "Delete" button can be found.
