A local town had been a source of speculation as it's local forest was being protected by someone or something in the forest. People had seen a large being when they went for walks in the forest, it seemed to just follow them a bit but never leaving the forest. There had been people coming trying to get a picture of the being but no pictures seemed to show it.
The forest had been dubbed The Watcher's Forest, it was full of tall trees, most deciduous. It was a nice temperature at the time of year, a nice fall day. The watcher had been wandering all day, it's form quite easily picked out if one wandered upon it.
The being was hunting for it's meal, it was careful not to get too close to the edge of the forest. The animals all went about doing their thing as they seemed to not worry about the large being.

((This is when Alex is older and out of the orphanage.))
Alex had heard about The Watcher's Forest and couldn't pass up the chance to find out more about these creature and how the people in the town that the forest surround feel about the creature. He was now walking through the forest, a little hopeful to run into the creature but he was just trying to get into the village so that he could find a place to stay and question the villagers. He looked at the sky, seeing the sun falling down over the horizon and making a beautiful orange-pink color. He pulled out his camera, taking a photo of the wonderful sky, and with the treetops in as well made it all that much better. "Great. Already this little journey is taking a turn for the best." He spoke to himself as he looked at the photo then put the camera up and began to walk again.

The being noticed him and picked up a deer, the smell of mint would move through the air as it fed on the deer's essence, it became stronger as time went on. The Watcher's helmet watched the male's movements, seeing the camera it's helmet tilted as it watched what he did with it, quite visible from the road if Alex were to look around.
Alex quickly picked up on the scent of mint, thinking that it was odd for that scent to be in such a forest, seeing as mint leaves are rare to come by and don't grow in the wild. He closed his eyes and then mumbled a small chant and it altered his eyes to where he could see the scent but it was hard to tell where it was coming from, it seemed to be all around him but he decided to follow the larger amount of the scent and hope to find the origin.
The watcher moved and tossed the deer before him, a large concentration being on the deer's body. The watcher moved around and watched the male carefully, a deep and angry sounding voice soon coming from the trees "What are you doing in this place? Your kind usually wants to make the flash go at me and cut down what brings me life..." It picked up another animal and began feeding, the scent getting stronger as he did.
Alex had kept following the amounts of the scent but was brought to a stop when he heard a voice, one of much angry. He blinked, making the spell disappear and his eyes go back to normal. He looked about, trying to figure out where the voice had come from. "I won't try to take a photo of you, Watcher. I just want to learn about you." He was glad that the creature knew how to speak and knew English, that made things easier if he was able to find Watcher.
The watcher's voice changed to a deep voice "They come and chop the trees, then more come and try to make the flashing come... I will not allow you to." Another deer body was dropped to the ground by Alex "Why do they try to make the flash come?" He wasn't knowledgeable on modern things and that's why he seemed a bit off with it "The dragons are right to not like human kind, they've become too bold, yet also cowardly at the same time.."
Alex was glad to hear the voice lose the angry tone and it seemed to be only confused. "I won't cut down the trees or make the flash come. They only have the flash come because they want to know what you look like." He explained just as the deer body fell, making him stumble back and fall to the ground, but he then quickly stood back up.
The watcher moved from the trees "They still cut the trees... They don't need to cut the trees..." the eye holes in his helmet had a golden light in them. He seemed to study him "You are not of the normal human kind either, you are of a special type, I still don't trust your kind." he then picked up one final deer and the smell of mint was brought a bit more strongly into the air.
"We do need the trees sometimes. To build our homes and make fires to keep us warm." Alex explained, trying to justify the things the humans have done. "They don't realize that you need the trees so much." He said calmly.
The Watcher tilts his head "They take the things that let me live..." He then moved "Nature has it's guardians and it has allowed them to take what they need, they take too much then demonize what stops them from taking more..." Anger began moving back into the tone.
Alex was trying to think quick now on the fact that Watcher was growing angry again. "There are some who are selfish and take more than they need, but some of us do need more to feed and take care of others that can not take care of themselves." He explained calmly, hoping to help bring some understanding to Watcher.
The Watcher shook it's head and moved to go deeper into the forest. He seemed to not like that, the beasts of the forest ran to hide. The being seemed mostly benign in it's actions though if it was followed a few bodies were found of people who'd been declared missing from the village.
Alex could feel the presences of the creature leave, and the scent of mint being to disappear from the air. He didn't know weather to go after the creature or to head to the village. He ran a hand through his messy blonde hair as he let out a sigh then began walking towards where he believed the village to be.
A young woman greeted him asking how he made it through the forest without being killed. The village was small a few people looking to have been hurt recently. They seemed to have more wood stored than they would need, some people seemed to be getting ready to go find and fight the being.
Alex was surprised to be greeted in such a way. "I was just trying to get through here and ran into Watcher and spoke with him." He said then looked about to see what was going on, a frown turning his lips and his eyebrows knitted together. "What are they doing?" He asked the woman.
The woman blinked "You met it, it's a horrible being and wants us dead! It hurt the men who are hurt and we've noticed animals go missing, aswell as people... It stops us from being able to make money for the village..." She looked up "They're going to kill it. Everything dies."
Alex stood there in shock at what the woman said. "That isn't it at all, ma'am. You take the trees away from Watcher, it needs it more than you guys and it kills the men for taking more than what is needed. It doesn't understand things as well as we do, it is like a child, only knowing so little about the world." He said, getting annoyed with the people here.
The woman frowned "That thing killed men who were doing their jobs! It broke one man's camera it doesn't even show up on film, what is it? We can't have it near, we fear for children." One of the men frowned a bit "It mangled my arm for me going in and tryin' to get back a cow. We need the cows for things aswell."
"It doesn't realize that. It things that all you are doing is taking away what it needs and what it believes that you are taking more than you need. You cut down the forest but you all have plenty of wood to last you a good couple months." He explained.
