Good to meet you all.
I'm new around these parts and openly admit that I usually have a hard time finding roleplay because I get too nervous to initiate conversation with other players. I come from a time where chatbox RP was prevelant and responses were expected to be delivered with accuracy and quickly. That was nearly ten years ago now and for a while I mostly RP'd on MMOs, tabletops and forums which proved to be much more relaxing of an outlet for me.
I enjoy staying in character as much as possible. There wasn't a lot of 'plotting' behind the scenes when I was younger. That's something I've had to learn to adjust to over the years so while I am open and receptive to it I am totally fine with just throwing the characters to fate and letting things develop on the fly organically. As for the types of characters I enjoy playing, most of them can be described as Jerks. I enjoy writing abrasive and sometimes hard to tolerate characters, either as a foil for a hero Archetype, a rival, or a bad guy you might want to defeat valiantly! Sometimes they can redeem themselves, sometimes they're just losers - I'm super comfortable playing either role!
I do tend to take a more supportive stance in story roles even with my more antagonistic characters. I like to add to the overall story or your characters achievements more so than taking the spotlight for myself! As for genre I can usually roll with anything and leave my favorite/main character flexible enough to fit into most types of stories.
Role-playing is a very important facet of my life that I have been starving for over the past year or so. I enjoy semi-lit+ style writing, the more angsty and violent the better.
I guess the only thing I'm looking for is a partner(s) that is more decisive than I can be who will he patient with me as I get back into the hobby.
