Welcome to RPR Murdergurl! I'm a fellow fan of science fiction, I am a huge Star Trek nut. Hope you have a great day!
I'm more into Star Wars than Star Trek. But less about the last trilogy or any of the series, and more into the Old Republic stuff. It's more niche than you'd expect it to be.
I liked the TNG Klingons from Star Trek, and hated what they did to their aesthetic in Discovery. But overall, I still wade in the kiddie pool when it comes to things Star Trek.
The Sci-Fi Forums is one place to try and start contacting members that have plots underway and may also have groups they participate in that might interest you. Another place I found that oftentimes leads to joining groups was playing around in the Forum Games. There will be all walks of RP life there from science fiction to licensed characters to fantastical to modern-day supernatural, etc. It's a way for everyone to congregate and break the ice as it were. I find it's also very helpful for scratching that itch in a bind where I'm just desperate to write something.
I hope this helps a bit more. Unfortunately, I don't have much in the way of science fiction going on for me via role-plays, but it's funny because I read it quite a bit and love it.

And thanks for the suggestion on the forum games. I've started to chide in on those, too.

I love sci-fi books. I just wish I had more time to read them. I have considerably less free time now than I used to. One of my favorite classic authors for Sci-fi is Ben Bova. I also love the Martian Princess books. Y'know the ones with John Carter, Deja Thoris, etc. I also read newer stuff, and I'm trying to find time for some Necromunda books out of the Warhammer 40k universe i have in my shelf
Allow me to echo everyone else, and welcome to the website!
Off the top of my head I know three groups I would recommend checking into if you're looking for group scenes:
https://www.rprepository.com/g/Thornmouth
https://www.rprepository.com/g/Stepcity
and https://www.rprepository.com/g/mobius
Hopefully you find what you're looking for! The last one kind of hits your search criteria perfectly, but I'm not sure it's active anymore? Wouldn't hurt checking it out regardless.

Thanks for that. I'll definitely look into that last one. At a glance, I can tell it's going to take some feeling around to orient myself to the setting page (or whatever y'all call these information banks).
Update:
Yeah, that sci-fi group is pretty dead. latest entries were from last year, and the links to join send you out to Furcadia. I'm not interested in registering to a Furry-based RP forum. I mean, I'm already here on RPR. So,I'd like to get my rping done here. Otherwise, what was the point of joining the site, right?
So.... moving on, I guess.
