Flames were in the center of a large forest, that belonged to a very important tiger demon and the fire had engulfed the home that should in the clearing. Kurai had just ran to the home in her tiger form, hearing the whispers of the birds and now was staring in her human form at the large home that she grew up and could smell the horrible stench of burning fur and flesh, letting her now that some of her family was in the burning home. They might have made her bitter and treated her coldly, she still loved them and was about to go in until her mother grabbed her from behind, pulling her away from the flames.
"Kurai! You must go! It isn't safe for you here, they will come after you next. Go! Run! Find safety!" Her mother yelled at the stubborn girl.
Kurai hadn't realized that tears were streaming down her cheeks as she glared at her mother. "No! I have to save father and my sisters! They need me!" She growled but then her mother pushed her deeper into the forest. "Go! They will be fine. You need to leave, live on." She said then Kurai nodded and ran off, still in her human from. She had tripped and scraped up the skin on her arms and legs but kept moving forward until she soon fell to her hand and knees, panting as the tears still fell from her eyes and her throat was soar from her sobs. Her mother's words rang out in her ears, blocking almost all other sounds but she could hear someone coming closer to her, but she was too worn out to attack.

Markal lifted his orange and black striped head to the smell of fire. For a moment, it triggered the animal instinct to run and get away before the flames burned him too. He forced down the feeling of fear and dropped down from the branch that had been his perch. His tiger body moved lithely through the undergrowth with a grace that only cats possess. His ears flicked towards the sound of crying and he paused. What was someone doing out here? Were they a survivor of the fire? As he came closer, he shifted into his full human form, deep green eyes searching under a soft black top of hair. He was dressed in a simple t-shirt and jeans. He made some noise so he wouldn't catch the girl by surprise. "Are you ok?" He asked as he came into her view.
Kurai flinched when she had picked up on the sound of someone else coming towards, she quickly tried to regain her composure, but was failing pretty miserably. She quickly got to her feet, pushing her bangs back behind her ear, even though the tears still fell form her eyes, she manged a simple nod. She tried to wipe away the tears as best as she could but to o avail.
Markal approached slowly, showing her he wasn't going to hurt her. "What's wrong?" He asked somewhat awkwardly. He wasn't really sure how to deal with a crying girl. If she was a friend or his sister he would have higher them and given them a shoulder to cry on but he didn't think this girl would take it well from some stranger she met in the woods.
Kurai bite her lip, it was clear that she didn't know how much she should say and was trying to think on how it could affect her negatively or positively. "M-my family was in the f-fire not far form here. I was going to g-go in and get them b-but my mother s-stopped me, she told me to r-run, find somewhere safe so that w-whoever started it wouldn't come after me." She said, sniffling a bit.
Markal's hands clenched. "Someone set your house on fire on purpose?" Who could do that knowing the home had a family inside? The thought enraged him. He wouldn't let the person who did that to hurt her if they came after her. "Well, maybe I can help. At least you wouldn't be going back in alone." Perhaps if they were fast enough, they could save the others still in the house.
Kurai nodded. "Y-Yes, I assume that it is one of the enemies my father has made." She said, the concern for her family were in her eyes. She looked surprised at his words. "W-What? I g-guess so. I d-don't even know if they are still t-there or not." She said, wondering if they all got out.
